From Despair To Where? To be honest, I don't think it's racist, just utterly crass and borderline offensive.
I'd say it was more than borderline...
Rofl @ the people complaining about being a "grass". This is not school

Nameless I agree that it's dangerous to pick out individuals without proper proof, on the other hand you not hearing anything isn't relevant if other people did !

semtex1871 Serious question.
If you accuse a catholic of being in the IRA, is that racism?

AthleticoSpizznot sure what age that your username alludes to....but.....why are you getting involved in this juvenile sh1t anyway.OldBiscuitAthleticoSpizz "a grass"
grow up oldun....The Scum days are long gone
Interesting statement, please elaborate. What exactly does grow up mean in this context?
Let's make one thing clear, a grass is about as popular as a scorpion in a lucky dip barrel and always has been. The problem of grassing is even highlighted in the Bible with Judas paying the ultimate price.
Can you seriously say that your average classroom tell tale tit was an acceptable friend at school?
My point still stands....."grass"......grassing-up........is so 1980 Ronnie Barker stuff
Once in a while the PIGS/authorities need to be informed of unacceptable situations.
(If I witnessed your house being burgled by your neighbour whilst you are away, would you rather I not dial 999?
If that makes me a "grass" (lol) then so be it.....)
I think that many of the others here have done a better job of explaining the "context"

I know almost all of these guys by sight... they don't know me, I just recognise them as I've seen them at certain games. I'd be really surprised if they have anything to do with this racial chants that we are talking about....
From what I have encountered they are alright, they have morals and are decent guys. Proper lads (in the positive/literal sense)

The relevant thing is we would have heard if it was them. There was 5 of us in the row behind that group.
Today's news reports mention people being ejected from the ground, nothing happened like that near us.
You can't post pictures of people you don't who were at the game and accuse them of being racist. There is no proof they were involved , not Impressed.

Firstly, my user name does not need to allude to anything.
Secondly, a grass is not a Ronnie Barker TV convenient character, it is a character that betrays his own people. Sadly, they still exist. Calling the Police if you see a house being burgled is not grassing. If someone down the pub let's On that he is doing cash in hand, or someone is selling some tobacco smuggled over from France and some worm notifies the authorities, then that is 'Grassing'. In that situation, would you notify thr Police? Yes or no?

Hampshire Royalsemtex1871 Serious question.

It's about as stupid as accusing a Protestant of being in the IRA. As most reasonably intelligent people know, Daesh are an extreme perversion of the Sunni branch of Islam. The majority of Omanis are not Sunnis.
I wasn't aware that anyone had 'accused' AAH of being in Daesh. They were just having a 'hilariously funny' joke about Daesh. This has the potential of insulting almost everyone except Daesh. I hope that no-one who has lost a family member to Daesh heard it! Even jokingly saying a deeply honourable man, who is fast becoming a hero to Reading FC and it's fans, is in Daesh must be deeply insulting to him.

Fezza Context:
Ali Al-Habsi is a devout Muslim.
Because of his religion, where he is from and the way he looks some "people" feel it is ok to link him to a known terrorist group who are perpetrating horrific war crimes globally - something that the vast vast majority of Muslims feel is utterly abhorrent.
It is as racist as walking up to someone who is Muslim in the street and calling them a terrorist.
I struggle to see how anyone can view this as "OK" or a bit of "Banter".

From Despair To Where? So pointing out that someone has said something offensive is bullying?
