TiagoIlori
Linden Jones' Tash So nearly the end of the week during which 'Big Announcements' were promised....

With an "S" - as in more than one...

At my count, we've had the Joel renewal - a "Big Announcement"...

And the internal promotion of a goalkeeping coach to the first team....

That second one is a stretch at a "Big Announcement"....

Guess we'll just have to get used to Big talking Americans with a tenous grasp of timelines...

I feel this very thing needs to be highlighted. I get that he’s human, but equally he needs to be a lot more careful with managing expectations if he wants to talk about transparency.

Yes big announcements are supposedly due, and they’re likely to be player related, as it’s most likely down the the FL having to approve everything that’s causing the unexpected delays - but RC would never go ahead and announce things before they’re complete. :?

But we’re all used to missed deadlines round here so what does one more matter?

It is fair to say they're ITK, so it should just be a matter of timing. The Twitter meltdowns are quite amusing.

Oh yeah, Twitter is "fun" right now. It's almost as if they all just expected new owners to completely wipe the slate and we'd be off signing players left, right and centre.

EFL being more circumspect about club dealings after a takeover, esp one bringing the club back from the brink, is normal - Bolton and Derby for example had to get all deals thoroughly checked before they could complete plus the club's name is not really going to have the best reputation in the game over the last 2 or 3 years, it will take some time to repair that and it may be a harder sell currently than some thing.

Still, stuff will be happening daily and we will hear something shortly I'm sure.

It probably is fair to say the new owners could tone down their tweets promising the earth while things are taking a while to complete (it happened again yesterday).

Just the kids on Twitter being little entitled football fans - expecting there to be a new signing announcement every day.

A bit like a spoilt kid at Christmas, will unwrap one present - throw it to one side and ask where the next one is.

If there’s a signing announced today watch that happen…

On a serious note, it’s inevitable that signings will take time, especially if we are shopping for loans and frees. We’ve obviously had to slash our wage bill and agents will be looking for the highest buck and it’s highly unlikely we are going to risk the harmony in the squad by paying over the odds for a free transfer. It’ll take time - and the project will have to be sold in. Free agents are doing the rounds, I know we’ve had some shown round the training ground and they’ll be shown round other training grounds too. It’ll like be structured contracts with steep promotion bonus and wage increases.

Agreed but it's certainly been a bit insufferable these last few days keeping up with Reading news on Twitter and it's a load of people bitching. Think a lot of people are gonna look foolish in the coming weeks.

There will most likely be a day, ahead of everyone returning to preseason training, where suddenly Reading are seen to do a “Tommy” and unveil about 10 new signings in one go

And then we can read the twitter twits twatting on about the club showing no ambition because they’ve never heard of any of them or they’re mostly just players who have been re-signed.

Business really is returning to normal for the club.

I'm relatively new to Twitter as I found it helpful following the likes of James Earnshaw, EPR etc., on the ownership farce. I found the ITKs pretty insufferable through it all, but now we're not in an existential crisis it's even worse. Was it this bad the last time we were a "normal" club?

It's a self selecting echo chamber of arseholery.

Who is going to post anything about RFC right now, except utter arseholes and trolls with ludicrous expectations and demands about signings and spending?

No one else has anything to say to post. So its just the likes of the 'where's the money gone' brigade from SJM's days and weirdos like Dodger.

I think it’s just purely the cultural difference. The Yanks like promising big and powerful, which if not delivered doesn’t tend to go down very well here.

This exactly....

My OG comment was about the Owner making promises with a defined timeline - not randoms on what used to be Twitter...

Saying you will stop the war in Ukraine within 24 hours might get you elected President over there, but not in this parish, Rob.... no siree....

I dont care what bookshop Missy visited...

They're American! Even the most, to us, mundane things tend to have a superlative attached to them! Everything tends to be exciting and/or 'awesome'.

We both have the mostly the same things in our countries but theirs are bigger/louder. The same applies to our language!

I worked with/for Americans for a good number of years and became used to this. However, we Brits tended to wonder amongst ourselves what our American friends and colleagues would say if they ever came across something that truly was 'awesome'!

Assuming O'Connor then, unless Jacobs is done or one has flown under the radar.

RoyallyFcuked Interview with Rob Couhig and his wife Missy on the Reading FC Youtube channel that was posted Friday evening.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7zvzk1umOw

There is also one with Joe Jacobson from two weeks ago which doesn't appear to have been posted on here yet either.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5ChxtvSdoI

In short, they all seem very genuine and their plans sound very positive. I'm excited for the future of our club again. URZ

Indeed! You might have to change your username now :?

I was thinking the same  not sure if it's even possible though. If anyone is pally with the site admin can you let him know that, like my club, after 13 years of uncertainty, a new identity is in order for me.
