Thaumagurist* That may be so, but I doubt that Wigan's stay in the Premiership will be for very much longer, I can see them losing their stars at some point (this season or next season) and slipping down the table.

And when Bruce bogs off, as he doubtless will when a more glamorous club comes calling, who is going to want to go there (who is any good, that is)?

I'd be pleased if and when Wigan gets relegated.

CMRoyal
2 world wars, 1 world cup The simple point CMRoyal is making is that Wigan are similar to us only in that they're not a classically big club and are newish kids on the Prem block. So just as we would be annoyed if a player chose a struggling 'big' club over us if were 7th in the table, so rightly would Wigan. Therefore to say Hunt wouldn't go to Wigan but would rather go to Spurs is, said as a Reading fan, surprising because we'd normally be the first to protest at that sort of mentality.

Thank you. It's been years since I did 'O' Level English, but with practice I'm sure I'll be able to express myself as lucidly as this. Bear with me in the meantime.

I think your posts were very clear indeed. At least you've studied some sort of English, which is more than can be said for a lot of HNA

Platypuss
Franchise FC
Arch In a tight race, we do need to pay attention to what others are doing. Last January, Fulham and Bolton were in more desperate straights than we were and when they bought it looked like desperation (I almost certainly said so at the time  ). But they bought well and the rest is history. The right players could transform Birmingham's season, as they already have a lot of talent at the club but don't seem to be making the most of it.

Fulham bought so well that it was the return from injury of their two best players that kept them up.

Or the bedding-in of their new signings? Hangeland for instance has been a virtual ever-present since signing.

That was a good call by Ideal before Fulham picked him up...

Being linked to Liverpool/Arsenal now..

I completely disagree.
We're not a club that pays outlandish prices for players and its quite likely we had a couple of more players in mind who we wanted to sign but refused to pay stupid money. everyone knows we like to do our business quietly and if we did go for anyone we wouldnt know until we actually sign the player.

just look at our squad and tell me where we would sign anyone else.

goalies: usa, fed, andersson (no need for another!)

rb: rosenior, kelly, murty (no need for another)
cb: bikey, doobs, ivar, pearce (no need for another)
lb: stretch...hence we signed harding as cover and i dont think golbourne is up to scratch, yet?

rm: kebe, henry (no need for another)
cm: harper, matejovsky, gunnarsson, cisse, karacan and sigurdsson (no need for another)
lm: shunt, hence we signed tabb who can also cover the right and hal robson kanu who is learning his trade at swindon.

strikers: doyle, long, nhunt and lita. i know lita almost went but im sure we would have had a replacement lined up.

as you can see we have enough players and the quality we just dont seem to be gettin that lucky break in front of goal or come up against a team that doesnt outnumber the midfield.

we've acted well in the market this time IMO. we replaced convey with someone who is also more versatile and proven at this level. we've also got some much needed cover at left back too whilst sending golbourne on loan to get experience. some of you could argue that we should have sold a couple then replaced with better, younger players but if no1 wants to buy, go or meet a price it wont happen.
