Talking about disappearing CV, you had better head over to AE sharpish as r4e is about to put up missing posters and offering a reward if you're not found :!:

looks like the data has proven me right yet again

Takeaways: We have about 10 - 12 k hardcore
We will add 3 - 5k to that if we get into the championship
We will add 8 - 10k to that if we get back to PL

Cohort of hardcore and fairweather fannies is similar in size which is a massive worry and speaks to the the fickle provincial nature that pervades culturally in the town to such an extent that it permeates our very mindsets. I would suggest, for example, that we probably have the highest number per capita of underpaid middle-managers in the country. The town's motto should be "we tolerate begrudgingly" and we need to acknowledge and face up to this.

I wouldn’t put it down purely to fickleness. I’ve lived away from the area for almost 30 years, so it’s a long time since I could reasonably expect to do even most of the home games. But I had a ST during the seasons in the PL, because otherwise I expected to struggle to get tickets for any game.

On the contrary I am coming back

Stopped going when Dai came, gave up the ST I had since 1996

Moved to near Brighton for family reasons

Said I would refuse to go until Dai had gone

I am now a fan again

I would also add this, I live in the North West, but I support the club through thick and thin. I go to North West away games and normally, if life allows, one home game a season. Nothing to do with my loyalty, all to do with my location. As I suspect is the same for more than you would realise. I know of 3 more Reading fans just in the sleepy North West coastal town I live in, so who knows how many live in cities like Manchester or Liverpool for example.

Assuming the data is correct - I've honestly not checked, it seems to me that the biggest drop in attendances occurs from 2016 to 2020, the directionless years. Or we've hit our floor, for the time being ...

IIRC our away attendances are listed elsewhere on the board and they actually went up upon relegation.

Zana Badawi
poohs pure
This is the post of a cnut that has no friends and it's sat at home having a conversation with himself, imagining there is a reasoned debate going on amongst a number of in the know types.

Yeah, we kind of worked that out when he resurrected a 5 and a half year old thread.
