We can only sign free agents and loan players. It's one thing to add a few names to a squad in that manner, but we'd need 10 of them, minimum.

There are lots of free agents in the summer desperate for clubs. It’s not ideal but it’s not something that would kill the club. We can also resign existing players who are OOC ( recognising some may feel stability is more important).

I believe that in a deal like this there is generally a "war room" where all documents etc are made available to parties in exclusivity - any work done by a party in exclusivity has to added to that at the end of that period, if the sale falls through.

I'm led to believe it's not Couhig. It's another group that has been around for a while and actually blocked the sale of Knibbs and Mbengue on deadline day (both to Championship clubs). Also told this group own another club abroad (Iberian peninsula) which has enjoyed success under their regime. Just relaying what I've been told.

Think EFL are allowing us deals by exception. We received £2m for Smith and brought in a player for low wages on a short term basis.

We have no hope for strategic planning and recruitment under the current circumstances.

The ‘exception basis’ is because we already have the minimum number of players with first team experience. We’d be allowed to staff back up to that minimum number of players.

Not sure strategic planning is a worry currently ! But of course we could still be intelligent in who we recruit. The Savage / Elliot type deals would presumably still be allowed. It’s obviously harder to recruit when you have one hand tied behind your back but the point was we would not only have 5 players on the books, even if we focused planning on the short term.

Quick glance online shows mixed back. Spezia relegated from Serie A in Italy but they are a relatively small club. His Portuguese outfit doing well and punching above their weight. Had a car crash tenure in Denmark which hopefully he has learned from.

Better than Dai's record of 2 liquidated and the other relegated with the women's team decimated.

Robert Platek, owns Danes Sønderjysk Elitesport (10th in the Danish Superliga) and Portuguese side Casa Pia AC (currently 6th in the Portuguese Primera League). Robert is an American businessman, he previously was trying to buy Sunderland (around 5 years ago) and, apparently, is interested in setting up a multi club business model a la FSG, the City group, Red Bull etc.

Eventually, however, Casa Pia managed to work their way back to the spotlight. Dai has to sell this time or the hope is over for everyone, including him.

Yeah, you’d think only having 5 players under contract in the summer and the club being under an embargo due to non submission of accounts has forced the sale. However, this is Dai after all.

It stops us signing players if we already have 20 something players with at least 1 professional appearance anywhere, without special permission... Campbell was a special case because we sold Azeez, and then a special case because we were essentially just extending his loan.

Bodin was a special case because we'd just sold Smith. Bindon was a sale and loan back so didn't change anything.


If we go down to 5 senior players, depending on how many youth with apprarances we retain, we'll be able to makes signings up to the 20 something number. But we'll still be banned from paying fees, I believe.
