Hound Impressed listening to N Hunt about the last two games. Seems to actually be some joined up thinking with the first team - proper path ways, playing the same style. Working really hard to find the right players for the system

It’s that which has allowed us to find the likes of Binden and Carson out of nowhere and move them into productive first team players.

Wareham again from the little bits I’ve seen sounds like a hard working, pressing forward who can finish

As mentioned, you’d be happy with any of Abrefa, CBC, Dorsett, Craig, Rushesha, Senga coming straight in if and when needed. It’s a very good place to be and something that was massively missing under Ince

Good to see some joined up thinking on the clubs part. I do wonder how much attention we gave to the youngsters last year when the remit was, just stay in the league. Probably everything else was left on the periphery.

All sounds pretty promising though, particularly if we can bring in/through the academy players who suit the system the first team plays. The only thing I'd say against it is it might not be beneficial for some talented players we have coming through. I don't actually know whether it will be or not, but a pressing style might not be something that suits certain players, like Senga for arguments sake. (Not suggesting it doesn't, just using Senga as an example).

Yes, its a risk that the style may not fit some of the younger players who were here but that's life and we will lose some who may go on to have decent careers because of it but, if we stick to this style then over time, we will become a magnet for younger players esp as they see a clear pathway to the first team.

That is not only true of our Academy players but also there will be a lot of agents and highly rated players (esp around the 18-20 age bracket) who will be watching the likes of Savage & Elliott very closely, how well they develop, how much game time they get etc, which will make it easier to sell the club/project to players at the likes of Chelsea/Man Utd/Arsenal etc as a pathway to progress their careers esp when the door may well be shut to them at their current club by expensive recruits.

Other thing to note, if the Academy is deploying the same style as the first team, it may see us mould Hunt as a natural successor to Selles as and when he leaves.

Thank you, I think being able to look after himself is a big asset. I have a lot of faith in our youngsters and I have always felt that League One could be the making of them.

And Wareham & Elliott have played PL2 and EFL Trophy games together for Chelsea.

Goals on the Reading OS already   but you need to have a login to the site to be able to watch (just scroll down and there's a link on the left side in the videos section). Probably only up as the game was played at St Georges though!

https://www.readingfc.co.uk/

Wareham reminds me a little of Robert Fleck/Paul Brayson in physique but obviously a little bit more promising in knowing what to do with the ball!

The 9 min video from the win over Stoke is now on You tube(Reading FC). Well put together i thought. It’s a real shame that the Media dept do some things well, including having someone at Bearwood yesterday reporting on the match on the Academy twitter but cannot be arsed to put a report on the website - Palace did live video, updates and a full match report !!!

Will RFC publicise and preview tomorrow evening’s PL 2 home match against Newcastle at the SCL stadium KO 7pm ?
I think it’s free entry probably Lower West stand.

Given they live streamed the PDL games, hoping they stream this one, if they are allowed to.

Probably not but highlights should appear just like they have done for last Sunday’s win on RFC you tube channel.

At least a post up on RFC academy twitter confirming free entry- nothing on website.

Good to see Abrefa and Dorsett starting again - hopefully their recoveries are going well. No Craig or Tuma probably suggests they're in the squad for tomorrow (unless either is injured).

4 in 3 now for Wareham. Seems worth offering him that deal

Who is Harris?

If we don’t sign Wareham soon someone else will. I think he’s ready for the first team tbh. He’s very strong on the ball and he’s got the pace to get in behind.

He's well worth signing but consider that he went on loan to L2 last season, played 5 league games scoring 0 goals.

He barely got a look in tbf as Orient flew out of the traps. Only got 186 mins then went back to Chelsea. Local and definitely got something about him. Deal must be close.

Second in table now, 2 points clear of 3rd and 5 goals adrift of Spurs. All clubs have played 3 games except 8 teams so could slip to 3rd if Arsenal or Fulham win tomorrow. Next game is at Arsenal at noon on September 3rd.

Very much backs to the wall defending( all 10 back) after Senga got sent off. 12 mins extra time also added.
