If Hunty is trying to force a move he must realise now that he is not in the same league as Charles insomnia, he'll need to pick things up if he wants to be a premier whinger!

Smoking Kills Dancing Doe He's gone, he can't stay after basically calling Coppell a liar.

Has there been a new interview? I think everything I've read so far makes it perfectly clear that clubs have expressed an interest but not made a bid. Hunty saw the interest as if it was a bid and thought the "there have been no bids" comments weren't right, Coppel then confirmed the situation. He's always told the truth and doesn't even need to add a Obi-Wan Kenobi "from a certain point of view" proviso

we already have bids ready for other players if the £5m offer does come in for Hunt. They are ready to be faxed.

it's a domino effect, as soon as the £5m comes in for Hunt, then we will have a bid off to another club within 5 minutes

Well I can exclusively reveal that Hunt will leave Reading at some point in the future. This will be at an unspecified date between now and 1st March 2246.

You heard it here first.

I think we'd need to be further ahead with things than that or else Woodcote's concern would be right and those bids could be rejected.

The obvious situation woul dbe to have two proposals with a club / player

1. a straight purchase for X million

2. a purchase with an immediate loan back

If Hunt stays we go with option 2

Perhaps they could have already verbally offered the club something? i.e. they may have already spoken with Barnsley and said obviously we are waiting to see what happens with Stephen Hunt but if we sell him, we'll offer you £1.5million for Campbell Ryce, and they may have verbally agreed. So could move it on if it happens? Just speculating really.

I'm sure I saw Lita in his Hummer driving towards London on the M4 this morning. Unless he was heading for Slough Town I suppose...

Yep, plain as mud

We won't be surprised to see Hunt leave but we could easily be caught out by his departure should it happen just before the deadline.

And, believe it or not, just because we send them a fax doesn't mean the other club is obliged to accept our offer for their player, especially if they no longer have time to find a replacement :|

Although why we would need to fax another club you don't make clear - the fax goes to the Football League to complete the registration....

It's really not hard to work out Woodcote !!

Does the player, or players, we have lined up should Hunt leave at the last minute have a "get out" clause in their contract?

If not, their current club will be under no obligation to sell the player and at liberty to renege on any gentleman's agreement that may be in place but we will have no choice other than to let Hunt go if someone tables the asking price, even if that offer arrives just seconds before the deadline.

If it's so simple, please explain why this scenario can't take place.

We will have a pre contract, contract, all will be agreed in advance, simple really. After all do't all clubs deal that way??

You know unsettle their squads right up to the last minute.

:?: We'd put an offer in for someone but say "we only want this person if SHunt goes"?? I don't think so. Much as it pains me, Woodcote is thinking like me, if someone came in for an offer for SHunt at the eleventh hour, unless we'd already signed his replacement, we'd be in big trouble and hardly able to sign someone with a couple of minutes to go to the window. If I was a player and a team said "we might want you but if our other player doesn't go, we won't" I'd tell them to stick it anyway.

All that counts is that we have to sell Hunt if someone meets the asking price and he wants to go whereas they won't have to release their player unless the "Simple really!!" brigade know something that I don't.

Dont forget that in the event that someone goes at the death, we will be able to get players in on loan. That loan can form the basis of a permanent move once the window re-opens. What's the big deal?

I don't think anyone knows anything you don't.

I'm not sure why you can;t get your head round the idea of a contract with 'subject to' clauses in it.

Of course any club or player can decline such an offer, or they can accept it. But once accepted it's a contract.

So we offer Barnsley £3 million for JCR, and offer him a 3 year deal on double his current salary with a good shot at the prem. And that is subject to a Hunt sale and with a penalty clause payable by us if it's not concluded.

All contracts in place, medical checks done and just waiting for a Hunt deal at any time.

Not saying it IS what has been done, but it's quite do able.

Worst case scenario is we keep Hunt, Barnsley get a compensation payment for not losing their player and the player gets compensation for not moving.

You could even extend it to a deal that has two dates when it takes effect - either now (if Hunt goes) or on June 1st 2009 (if he stays).
