Simon's Church TBH though, we made it to the play-off final just by basically lumping it forward and percentage balls down the line.

We had Long who was very successful at chasing them down. And that is the problem, we are still playing as if Long is in the team.

Wycombe Royal As I have said before it is our central midfield that is the problem. It is too one dimensional and the opposition know that all they are going to do is play the ball wide to Kebe and McAnuff. If it doesn't work they just try the same again. And again. And again.

We need a creative midfielder who can play a variety of passes so that the opposition don't know exactly where the ball is going all the time. Also Le Fondre will thrive on balls played through the middle but we never do that.

Also we play with wingers and they are crucial to the way we play currently so why do our full backs not support them and provide over lapping runs thus creating more space for them to do their work. We saw a bit of it from Mills today (but not much) but Griffin just doesn't seem to want to get forward which leaves Kebe with two markers all the time.

We have no-one who can shoot accurately from distance.

We have no-one who can consistently put in a decent cross.

Our players don't move into space when they don't have the ball.

Our build up play is too pedestrian.

Our set pieces are predictable.

Our substitutions are strange (why take off Griffin and move Karacan to right back, only to substitute him 10 minutes later and bring on Cummings - why not just make the double change in the first place?).

McD appears to be suffering the same problem as Coppell and is unwilling to drop certain players (Karacan, Leigertwood, Griffin, McAnuff and Kebe promarily).

Something has to change and change soon.

= Steve Sidwell. Currently on the fringes at Fulham. You may have heard of him.

Otherwise just where I am coming from as I have posted previously......!

Would however question "what" build up play today?! I must have missed something.

Plus a little bit more "I could be bothered" from our players elite would help too!

Noticed McD was largely absent from his presence in the technical area today too.

Man Friday
Tilehurst End Kebe doesn't want to be here anymore, totally disinterested and is not going to risk injury before January.

Spot on. Some people are saying he's lost his confidence. Bollox! He's lost his motivation.

Maybe I should have yelled out that marriage proposal when he was in earshot, after all

Yes, in fact pretty much the entire time McDermott has been manager we have over relied on a single excellent player, first Gyfli and then Long now there's nobody near that level of ability in the squad and we are paying the price.

The tone for today's dross was set within one second of the start of the game; Reading's kick off, instantly Watford had the ball. Downhill from there.

It was absolutely hopeless and inadequate in every way. To add insult to injury, at 0-2 players were sleepwalking and going through the motions, which is an absolute disgrace. There is literally absolutely nothing whatsoever to look forward to as a Reading fan in the near future. Still, we'll be the best run club in League One next season.

FFS. some of you have no clue of a football game at all. and with every1 complaining about jobi captain, why? if someone like ledge who a lot of people wanted to be captain was u would all be giving him stick along with pearce i dnt see any captains in the team atm i jst see a lot of poor quality performances which need to be improved to climb up the table. its only 6 games into the season i think some of us need to calm down, we always start slow and yes i know this is the worst start in many years but with the players we have got i have no doubt that the form we are in atm we will over turn and we may start to hit a bi of form. it dnt look like we will soon but we will have to wait and see at doncaster.

Now we are not even capable of that!

Same old shit, just a different week. No creativity, players have sussed the way to play against us and we just seem a team who doesn't know our best eleven and worryingly short of confidence.

Midfield are the biggest culprits. Kebe appears like the player of hid early days here. McAnuff looks a lost soul with that captain's armband on while the central pair just haven't been consistently good enough throughout the season.

Time is catching up on Griffin who seems to have got a relatively easy ride from some compared to Harte.

Felt sorry for Le Fondre who had absolutely nothing to go on and found himself a rather frustrated spectator like the rest of us.

If we had been getting beaten by better teams then it would be hard to argue against but the likes of Watford, Portsmouth and Barnsley are teams we would expect to take points off. Tough work ahead ahead of a 3 game spell where we need performances and results.

would be nice if we actually had a midfield RG30.

Leighetwood may as well have been at home counting his millions and Karacan runs around slightly less well than a headless Andy Hughes, without a positioning clue.

Sidwell is not a creative midfielder. He isn't an especially good passer, either, even at this level.

Agreed

Left at 2-0 today so my comments on the game are (thank Christ) limited.

Watford free kick came about after a handball by their defender on the halfway line which both the ref and Lino failed to spot. Annoying.

Waiting for confirmation on FLS but looked to me like Federici had his weight on the wrong foot as the free kick was taken, resulting in him not being able to reach it.

For Watford's second, I think it was Manset who stood still and watched in the area as their man had all the time in the world to score. Dire, absolutely phucking dire.

One also has to wonder about the attitude of the club's employed officials today - you will be desperate for bums on seats as we slide down the divisions so be careful what you wish for with creating such a sedate environment through draconian measures.

Different imho, as Coppell had better squads from which to pick his players.

PieEater Like watching a Sunday league pub team, with most players having a hangover.

We made a poor Watford team look like Brazil. Relegation form.

We are only 3 points off Peterborough who are 11th and Leeds who are 12th!! It's early days...the team needs time to rebuild!!! and gel....we need to support the team...the home support is dire...I know it's frustrating but we need to be patient!!

The support is likely to be a lot worse next Saturday. As for the PA crap about staying together as a family  not till the wicked step father sods off!

Cheer up! Madejski's planned well for our future. We have 2 of the best strikers from League 2!

Friday's Legacy
Royal Lady Today we started with a strike force comprising a striker from Hereford and one from Rotherham. You reap what you sow.

hahnemann - fulham reserves
shorey - leyton orient
ingimarsson - brentford
sonko - brentford
murty - york city
little - burnley
convey - the u.s (another 'gamble'/unknown before he cam here)
hunt - brentford reject on his way to bradford city before we stepped in
sidwell - arsenal youth
harper - arsenal youth
doyle - cork city
long - cork city
kitson - cambridge
lita - bristol city

come on. even you must realise your comment about our strikers was plain uneducated?

Now take the RTGs off and think of all of the cheap lower league talent we have purchased that hasn't worked out!

Obvious weeks ago that Pearce should not be playing. Liability and today confirms it.

Get khumalo back in - he may have started slowly but is much better than Pearce.

I'd rather dig up Tommy Burns and have him at the back than Khumalo
