..... haven't walked it for quite a few years but back in the day, used to amble there (via the Queens Hd/'Shoes) and take about an hour - sometimes got lazy and bussed it from the top of Basingstoke Rd -> Bennet Rd.

Was a bit of an obstacle course before they finished the 'new' A33 bit at the end of Bennet Rd - bit like crossing the Somme (without the noise bullets shells and gas of course!) and quite 'hairy' for autumn/winter night games.

10 hours a day I think we planned on, enough for a decent lunch break, a wash wherever there's a stream and a decent kip under the stars. At the end of the day you are escaping a hole and travelling through some pretty other holes with the promised land ahead of you as motivation.
