Isn't he a fantastic striker?

We heard all the defence about him on this board about how wrong it was to loan him...so when will he score against Championship defences...my money is never! All style (!) no substance!

Can we bring back the Leroy Lita Appreciation Thread?

Get him back in our first team I say - we can do with some mouthy overrated divers in the team right now to help us back into losing form.

Old Biscuitman
RG1 Export Wonder how much we will be able to get for him?

One hell of a lot less than he was worth at a time closer to his England U21 days. Lucky to get £1.5m I'd say.

That's where it all went wrong, IMHO. The last few months of last seasn he was all that we'd want of him, then he did pretty well in the U21s, but everything seemed to go wrong in July/August. The sex video and the pulled muscle that meant he missed the start of the season summed it all up, and we've never seen the potential that I, for one, thought he'd have this season.

Concur, I'll be fairly peeved if he goes as I saw him as having bags of potential. Lets hope we have someone in mind to bring in!

I think what people were saying was that it was stupid to leave the first team with onlt 3 strikers at the most important time of the year. Leroy hasn't scored yet it's true, SC seems to have been vindicated due to our luck in not having any of the front 3 injured over the past month, though Doyle is hardly banging them in!

I think Leroy has played his last game for Reading.

I would be very surprised if he is still a Reading player come the start of next season.

As an aside, in January I was talking to a Sunderland fan about Leroy, and was telling him about Leroy's lifestyle and some of the stories about him.

This guy's response was "We don't care, we'll still have him - just as long as he's not the sort of prat who drives a Hummer."

Ah....

'greed.
I also think we'll be lucky to get more than £1.5m for him. Should still see a profit - just - though.

We've now got a call-back option on Leroy, so this might be the best move for everyone. Would love to see him start banging them in for Charlton as we continue to graft our way to safety.

I think we could give him away and still see a profit. Put a value onto some of the goals he scored over the previous 2 seasons - and then put a financial cost on having a disruptive influence who thinks they're more valuable than they really are hanging around the dressing room and training ground.

That'll be the 'mouthy overrated diver' who wasn't in the team when we were losing previously then would it? Top rate analysis again from the South Coast's footballing brain.

There is no hope for some, for those lost causes you simply pray for them and move on.

With Leroy's loan at Charlton extened I'm fully expecting him to at least double his league goal tally this season

Is that before or after the 20% that Bristol City get under the terms of his transfer from them to us?

Good point, well made. I had forgotten about that.

Wouldn't the deal be 20% of any profit made - ie we sell for the same as we bought then no extra money is due but if we sell for £1m more than we paid they get £200k of that money.

has Lita not signed a new contract in that time, therefore the clause would be null & void anyway?

Ah the old Graeme Murty trick?

We didn't get away with it then so can't see us getting away with it now.
