WestYorksRoyal
Elm Park Kid Say we come down to the point where Couhig has basically checkmated Dai legally and he has no avenue to sell to another buyer in the time frame. At which point Couhig offers the same deal as he did last year and Dai is left deciding whether to accept or let the club die.

What do people think he would do? Legitimately?

I think if Dai is faced with folding the club for nothing or selling to Couhig, he'll fold the club for nothing.

Sadly I agree

The funds involved are so small compared to his other debts and issues. It's a bit like owing £50k and then someone saying "you need to pay £100". It just isn't a priority and I don't think he cares at all.

In that case why has he even tried to sell the club at all this year?

A few reasons.

He doesn't want it any more
Minimises fan and FL pressure in comparison to doing nothing
He doesn't have to be involved in the vast majority of the work, just leave it to Howe and Pang.

And my personal favourite, he'll sell if he can force someone into giving him a good deal. If he can't get a good deal he'll just ignore the problem until it goes away.

So I agree he won't sell to Couhig. But then I doubt he'll sell to Platek or anyone else either, because.he won't find a big enough mug to get a win from given he holds no cards other than our oblivion.

I don’t know why Dai didn’t see to Couhig in the first place so therefore no idea if he’d sell to him now if that was the only option

Neither Ghana Radio nor Greatest Hits Radio particularly fit as places that would have an interview with RC…. :?

War of briefings continues. STAR yesterday in their email said Couhig's security does nothing to stop suspensions/administration/liquidation. Couhig has come out and effectively said the worst case scenario is off the table as he could take control of the club tomorrow and is simply trying to do a clean sale to avoid the inevitable litigation.

I can't see his argument working out. The EFL need Dai to sell in weeks, not after months of litigation, appeals and counter appeals about whether he defaulted on Couhig's terms.

I have such a cynical view on all of this now (I know it shouldn't have taken this long).

The EFL delaying it again -
Positive stance - they can see genuine progress being made
Negative (realist) stance - delaying the inevitable, still can't get hold of Dai - by kicking the can down the road it gives them longer to decide what to do when Dai hasn't sold. Why haven't they stated that they have spoken to the prospective owner who is in exclusive talks?

I have naively believed the Club statements to date and had the blinkers on due to the success we are having on the pitch (long may it continue) - but we simply cannot believe/ trust anything we see and hear until something is signed.

I fell very foul of that when I met Couhig at the Wigan game in August, spoke to him (and was told the deal was done and to be signed in two days time) and he was being followed by Club videographers and social team. Would love to see where all that footage ended up.

Appreciate this post is a mumbling nothing.

To be fair to RC he was accurate at the time as that’s exactly what he had been led to believe and promised. We all know Dai and his excellent advisors are the pantomime villains in all this.

Wonder what the next bit of depressing cr@p that comes out of nowhere will be.

Ultimately Couhig can only be judged on the outcome. If he prizes the club and assets out of Dai's hands I'll welcome him as the man who took the fight to Dai and ultimately saved the club.

If he can't achieve that and we end up getting expelled/liquidated he's an utter c*** who played a big part in our demise and should have no further involvement in English football.

He talks a good game but it's the fog of war and I have no idea what to believe. But is appears there is no middle ground; it's clear from his words that this doesn't end with a sale to Platek.

Completely agree with this. If Couhig takes over and saves us then he will have my complete backing - and would hope that would also be the case with other Reading fans regardless of what they think of him, 'beggers can't be choosers' has never been more appropriate when it comes to our situation.

If Couhig did buy the club, and therefore Dai was completely and totally finished with Reading, there would surely be no quetsion that he'd be seen as a hero. I don't mean to dismiss any of the previous activities, but the sheer relief in having an actual tangible/credible person in control and seeing the back of Dai - it would be a monumental point in our history.

What does this mean as it sounds like he's saying he could own the club tomorrow regardless of Dai Yongge or anyone else which sounds weird. So doesn't that mean there really is no dispute or question that he'll take over the club and not this other guy that keeps being mentioned.

Couhig is starting to seem a bit like an abusive partner who says they love you, but if they can't have you, they'll destroy you.

Quote from the interview

He describes the recent court case with the club as a PR stunt designed to make him look like he was blocking a sale. The club has subsequently made him an offer to set aside the securities he holds and he says he was happy with the figure the club offered but needed some vital assurances.

"Our response was there were some procedural things that had to be done. One having been burned multiple times by believing that lawyers were speaking for Mr Dai we were only going forward if the offer came from him in a formalised offer that was binding, secondly as it would implicate the purchaser we would need the purchaser to also sign on since this was done theoretically to allow a purchase to go forward and finally my over arching concern that I'm not a 100% sure any of this is real until it's real and so we wanted to seek verification there was a sale imminent at which point we would deal with all of it."

So I would presume the club is now working to meet those concerns so RC will sign them off…

Every time someone points out that Couhig risks ruining the club, doesn't mean they absolve Dai of his role.

Dai got us into this mess. Couhig threatens to finish the job for him.

Honestly, I don’t know what to think, but if you listen to RC it sounds like he’s outfoxed Dai. If RC taking control of the club is the only way it can be saved I am in.

Do you believe that a deal with Platek is close? I don’t trust the club, but hope I am proven wrong.
