leon Gents - far be it from me to incur the wrath of Brogue ( :? ) but what is the actual news - if any?

Is it that Platek has dropped out and Couhig is talking up buying the club? Is there any evidence that this is proceeding?

We know for certain that the Exclusivity announced in March has failed and the club is discussing with a new bidder. We are assuming that Platek has dropped out and that the only likely potential buyer is Couhig given the securities he holds.

Let's be honest, if it isn't Couhig we are totally, utterly oxf*rd.

Was told last night that Couhig and Dai have actually become close friends through this whole process, so shouldn't be any more blockers.

Winston Biscuit Is it time to start thinking up Couhig related chants?

If someone could find out whether he owns a pig or wears a wig that could really help us here tbh

Rob Couhig
He doesn’t wear a wig and isn’t very big
But he’s got the Reading gig and eats a breakfast fig
While Dai Yongge has to dig
Rob Couhig

Fact. I spotted them in the Turtle yesterday afternoon having a friendly drink as they discussed the takeover.

Second paragraph in the Club Statement seems to indicate that:

Following a request from the club, last week the EFL extended the time allowed for Mr Dai to divest his interests in the club until 22 April. The parties are working to complete negotiations at the earliest opportunity and expect to meet the EFL’s requirements.

That's 12 days. Platek had exclusivity for 45 days, Taylor for 17 weeks and neither couldn't get it over the line. Only person who has enough ducks in a row is Couhig.

windermereROYAL So the latest exclusivity finished within the last week, but we`re already in advanced negotiations with the next potential buyer, surely there can`t be any debate now that it`s Couhig.

Seems odd the EFL would grant an extension on the basis of Platek’s bid progressing when in reality it was days away from falling apart

Suggests this pivot back to RC has been in play for a while, and explains his sudden reappearance in the media in the last few weeks

I do hope the EFL were aware of this at the time of their decision, otherwise it would appear we may have misled them as to the status of the takeover?

Who Moved The Goalposts?
Extended-Phenotype Was saying on Twitter:

1. Searches can only occur after an offer has been accepted.
2. You can’t initiate a search if someone else is involved in trying to buy the property.

My take is that the Platek deal has collapsed and DY has accepted RCs offer. But I wouldn’t put money on it (I have rarely felt confident in any of my takes with this circus).

If what I heard last night is true, you are spot on. Platek has pulled out because of the liens and Couhig is taking over.
Regardless of his methods, if this does pan out he's played an absolute blinder.

I was thinking exactly this last night. Regardless of whether he's played a long game or things have just fallen into place for him because of Dai's chicanery, he's had the foresight and legal nouse to stick in a backstop

WestYorksRoyal If it's done next week, does Lincoln get a 20k+ attendance?

Heavily odds on the answer is no.

I saw this mentioned on Twitter too. That formal confirmation of the sale and the end of Dai would surely mean we MUST sell out the ground. I'd love to see it, a huge celebration and also worthy of attendance as we're still in a good position for a playoff finish.

Even getting 20-21k would be welcome

Maybe Couhig's first action as our new saviour will to be sell tickets at £2 on a first come first served basis, just to fill the stadium again...

Although it’ll be good if Couhig has managed to get a deal over the line at last, I’m kind of hoping it’ll be Roger Smee coming to the rescue once more.

Would imagine it could only be someone who has been through exclusivity, but I get it: with Smee you'd think he was more of an emotional attachment so he'd be more committed.

Given the work is already done it presumably should be just a case of renegotiating the price and getting the necessary legal paperwork  together and signed. Hopefully Dai will sign it first this time!

Of course there’s probably still time for some unknown debt or other “snag” to suddenly be revealed by the seller.

But we could be in the last few days of this hideous experience. :?

That's a reasonable guess.
