MouldyRoyal It'd be a huge task, but I would love to see a complete timeline of events in the Dai ownership. For those of us who weren't alive or old enough to understand events of the Thames Valley Royals era, this has been the period of greatest uncertainty in the club's collective memory. While a lot of it is fresh right now, give it a couple of years and I reckon some of the specifics of just how mad it got may be forgotten. Would be nice to have a complete overview with all of the events of the last 18 months (Bearwoodgate, Chiron, Banning Order, Bowengate etc etc) in the context of Dai's overall ownership and our league results.

Someone is bound to write a book. Are the RFC historians still alive and active?

Only 2 posts and both in this thread....

Both of which came from I.P. Addresses in Manchester…

Boo - would have been funny if he'd been present all this time....

I know sod all about it (I'm sure Brogue knows more) but I don't think that necessarily indicates the user was in Manchester at the time.

I see David Downs in the car park of Tilehurst Waitrose every now and again, and I'm pretty sure I've seen Roger Titford about. (If anyone hasn't read his ousting book "Rusty Tin and Shiny Plastic" I can strongly recommend it).

Interestingly* a fair bit of praise for Pang from Couhig in his latest interview for the sale

Sounds like Dai really had very little to do with it

I have to say, I've never completed the End of Season Survey that just popped into my inbox with such diligence and thought.

They are gonna have reams of open ended responses to review and code....

Well they did ask....

Roger is definitely still around. Whether he’s interested in writing a book about the Dai years I have no idea. I’ll ask him.

I also missed Couhig's email but was prompted as I saw something about "you may have notifications off". I turned them on and got the survey. I've never got one before, but as mentioned, it's going to be completed with real passion by many supporters.

It was good to vent some things, but also give positive feedback, and general ideas too. Particularly around stadium appearance, upkeep, the bar service (lol). Also matchday experience as a whole.

Yeah they need to do something with the bars to be honest. Perhaps bring back the guys with the beer in back packs walking the concourse. Or the pre ordering of pints for collection at half time. The queues are stupid even for at the games with low attendances. Or at least start pouring pints 10 minutes before half time. They need another shipping container outside the east selling beer also. Get the big screen back so people can watch the early ko put up some gazebos or something so there are covered areas out side in shit weather.

Turn the season ticket card into a payment card you can top up, then have the ability to get royalty points for purchases, or things like buy 9 pints get the 10th free.

I think a history of events, written/recorded from a SellBeforeWeDai perspective would be really useful for any clubs who find their selves in a similar situation..... maybe even our own club in the future if things take a wrong turn again.
We achieved the goal in a peaceful way, yes the peaceful pitch protest did cause a match abandonment but it did not break the law as confirmed by Thames Valley Police - Hopefully nobody received a ban off the back of it so we should all feel some pride, ultimately though the former owner's hand was forced by the EFL and we were saved because the assets/club had some value and potential.

Like the idea of all of this - I said simillarly about the back pack people. The queues really put me off getting drinks. Even in the fanzone area if you don't bring your own cans, the queus there are ridiculous. It's less about quality of beer and more about the time it takes to even get one.

There must be loads of clubs similar to ours - even in Europe - who have stadiums outside the town/city area. Some must have great ideas in relation to making it a day out, so fans are encouraged to come to the ground very early as there are things on, and a reason to leave the main town area.

Didn’t the card used to be a payment card? I know lots of places that have trialed that and all have abandoned it fairly quickly.

I suspect it's just more cost than its worth.

The BBC interview is just fantastic.

The guy comes across so well: he has a sense of humour, he has a clear vision for the club, he understands loyalty, community, and the fans. Love his quip about anyone short of Atila the Hun being welcomed as the new owner, but it is a lot more than that, based on how he has set out his stall.

I'm starting to get really excited now.

In terms of match day experience, I'd say the three biggest things are:

Fix the PA - get it loud, get play lists of crowd favourites that appeal (as far as possible) to young and old, build the atmosphere. I Won't Back Down by tom Petty might actually work, a referenced in the BBC interview.

The bars - there must be someway to get more drinks and food into more people more quickly. Get the best match day experience people who have the experience to really design the whole thing.

The toilets - get the simple things right. -Replenish the soap more than once per season. Get more hand driers, and get ones that work. Improve ventilation. Keep the place spotless. It's 2025 for God's sake. Functioning toilet facilities at a football stadium should not be difficult.

Sounds like you designed the survey....

Suspect this is a key theme that will come through
