RFC Wishlist

by Harpers So Solid Crew » 16 Nov 2010 16:23

Seen a lot in my time followinf RFC, attending and not, so what is left that I want to see?

A Play-Off Final win for promotion, to make up for the heartbreaks of losing 2

Semi final cup place, either competition really

A home grown player coming through our team and making it to an England Cap.

Once have had all that the skies the limit.

What do HNA? ers want to see still?

I'd love an away trip in a European competition, just to make up for the one we turned down because we needed to go to Korea for a pre-season friendly!!!!

For someone that has seen a lot you seem to have missed Neil Webb.

But he did not get a full England cap while he was with us. I think this is what the OP meant.

If it is a wish list then i'd like to win the League Cup, FA Cup, Community Shield, Europa League, Premier League and the Champions League. :D

I would settle for winning a play-off final or reaching a major cup final.

I'd also enjoy beating a full strength "top 4" side on their own patch.

To be fair, I think the OP has got it pretty much covered. I have three heartbreaking moments watching Reading that really upset me when I think about them, even now. Firstly the two playoff final losses, and secondly the loss to Villa in March.

If we were to win a playoff final, or get to Wembley for a cup semi/final, it will go a long way to exorcising the demons!

Much as I knock Madejski's *current* attitude toward the club, thanks to him we've seen the greatest dream of all realised.

All other things seem insignificant. Obviously winning the Prem and Europe is on the wishlist but realistically my wishlist would be:

1) Having the sort of atmosphere we had at the old southbank at the Madejski
2) A Reading player in the England team
3) Getting into Europe
4) Staying in the Prem for a good few years and consolidating our place there
5) Madejski going back to his good old self and continuing the fantastic work he's done, or, less-preferred: him leaving and someone with a bit of balls to take us to the next level and make some of the above happen

I'd rather win a P/O Final than lose a cup semi.

In fact, not bothered about a cup semi which will be full of the glory sort on their big day out.

An away trip in Europe would be absolutely mint. I'd go anywhere.

It annoys me so much that the club turned down the chance to go into Europe just because it might've meant needing an extra player or two (which I think was rubbish too).

It could've been us going to Athletico Madrid!!!

Madejski sells the club to someone with a lot of money who wants to invest in the team and stadium and take us forward.

I just want the play-off final win. Then I'll start thinking about any other wish.

1. Reach FA Cup Final (and ideally, win it)
2. Win a play off final
3. Beat Southampton away.

Good list HSSC, I would have added 'RFC keeper scores a goal' but have now ticked that off 8) . LOL @ beat Southampton away, the RFC supporter's inferiority complex to the fore yet again.

1. Atmosphere at games which match the first half of the cup tie against Villa last season
2. An FA Cup Final
3. Snowball to shut the fcuk up wrt his mind numbing stats
4. The introduction of unsegregated seating
5. Stadium redevlopment that allows for standing as can be seen in various German stadia
6. The style of football played under McGhee
7. European competition

Sounds like yet another deluded teenager, lacking experience of life. Do you think that there is a queue of billionaires somewhere, desperate to own a football club, just so they can throw away endless sums of money for no return, except to read unappreciative comments from fans that probably couldn't organize a tuck shop queue, let alone have input into the complicated business running of a football club. My wish is that you unrealistic dreamers would f'off to Chelsea or manure if thats the style of club that you want to follow. I personally think that the Chairman has, and still is, running the Club in a very good manner. Under his chairmanship, there will still be a solvent Reading Football club for many years to come, and not a sterile, un-affordable, mercenary team, taking the fans as mugs, kissing the badge but threatening to leave if another player earns £1,000.00 a week more than them despite the fact that they are on £140,000.00 a week already.
I wish you types would learn to appreciate the Chairman and what he has achieved. Remember, his predecessor Smee ostensibly only wanted the club just so that Rock---- could build on Elm Park.

Not much chance of that - we'd need to be in the same league.

Go all the way down to Conference and back to the Premiership winning promotion in consecutive seasons
