I don't. There's nothing quite as good as getting other people to do your job for you.

Dickie Davies Been asked by a Journo friend to assist in a pre season write up about the 'ding.

Required:

Overview of club - second appearance in the premiership, but more chance of staying there given sound investment.
The perception - that Reading will go straight back down (i'm assuming you mean people's perception of Reading).
The reality - relatively unassuming mid table finish after a positive start. Defensively quite weak but going forward should be a threat and there'll be teams a lot worse than Reading next season imo.
Plan A - win the midfield battle, hope the experience of Pog & Roberts will tuck away some chances. Go out and attack at home, play a bit more smartly away.
Plan B - move Karacan to right back and McAnuff in the middle then hope (this made me despair whenever McDermott used it last season)
Strengths - players hungry for a chance at the big time, unknown premiership quantity that might provide a few upsets.
Weaknesses - Full backs will be slaughtered on a regular basis
Lesson from last season - never write a McDermott team off!
Did you know? - Reading's stand out half time entertainment in previous seasons has steadily declined as time and health & safety kicked in? Where we once had Mr Woo, a helicopter bowing to each end in turn and Santa abseiling from the rafters; we now have an american style penalty shoot out and 'guess the player' competition.
+
Key man - Gotta be the captain for me, massive step up for Jobi and a first true go at the premier league for him.
Manager - turning into a very capable manager and it was a truly astounding and incredible feat to win the league with this group of players, especially given the shoddy start to the season.

Opinion & thoughts greatly appreciated.

Now stop being lazy and do it yourself.

Overview of the club: we have a great team spirit and it is clear that all the players want to win for each other! The club prides itself on being very family friendly and has won the football league family club of the year award several times! Reading were traditionally a lower league club but in the recent decades we have really pushed on and are back where we belong!!!!

Perception: •other fans: Most fans of other clubs seem to like reading, obviously there are some exceptions for example west ham, swindon and oxford! Many fans dont like the fact that our stadium is modern and out of the town centre unlike traditional football stadiums!
•media: Reading dont receive much attention from the media, even though we won the league last year the media were much more focussed on west ham and southampton!

Plan A: last season it was very much to soak the pressure and get a goal on the counter attack, this relied heavily on our fotress defence!
Plan B: chuck ALF on if we needed a goal!

Strenghs: solid defence and lightening fast wingers!

Weakness: no 20 + goals a season striker (pre pog)

Lesson from last year: team spirit wins games!

Did you know: reading have ot the record for getting the most points in a single football league season!

Key man: there were many last year but imo the most influential man in getting us promotion was jason roberts however many would argue gorks or pearce!

Manager: brian 'the god' mcdermott!!

Ps using my phone so maybe be grammer/spelling problems!! Haha

Plan B: Put a midfielder at right back... if that's worthy of being a plan B.

Thought the plan was to let the other teamgo in front then score as many goals as we can in the last 20 minutes

"weakness: no 20 + goals a season striker (pre pog)" - that can be a strength as it may be easier for other teams to manmark the player

Is Pog really a 20 goal per season striker btw? I think he'll hit 10 but no more than 15 :|

Cheers to RoyalTank & BrockManson whose replies, as well as my own thoughts, I've copied, pasted & forwarded over to friend.
