What sort of reception should Pardew receive on Saturday?

by TBM » 26 Sep 2012 21:03

Personally I think we should applaud him - it's was him who set us up for when Coppell took over

Would we be where we are today without his input?

Agreed, unlike McGhee he's never really said anything bad about us since he left. He should get a good reception. He's not at Wham now so the whole Parjudas thing isn't really relevent

He wont get any reception from me. He's there to beat us, we're there to beat his side. Not interested in thank you's or boo's.

To be honest, I no longer have any ill will towards Pardew. Applause, but not as much as if we were playing against a Coppell or McDermott side.

Long forgotten IMO. The stink stayed with West Ham.

Agreed. Water under the bridge. Any hostility will be manufactured and will sound all the more ghey because of it.

I'll be booing at Reading World during the whole match. Just can't stand the hypocrisy of football management. At least with McGhee Madejski actually gave him permission to talk to Leicester.

Pardew has always been very respectful toward the club, even when he copped the abuse. That's the difference between him and McGhee.

If I were there then i'd clap him. (well, i'd be drinking on the concourse but you know what i mean)

The normality of football management.

In the real world, you do your job, expressing loyalty whenever you have to, and move on to higher paid work without any qualms at all. Why should Pardew act differently.

I like him anyway. I loved the way his Reading teams played football and thank him for starting off what has been a fantastic decade.

I'm old school and wouldn't piss on him (or McGhee) if he was on fire.

Respect your opinions though naturally.

Can only echo what others have said really. The anger remains towards West Ham, but not Pardew and he has always been complementary about the club.

Also, unlike McGhee he has proven himself to be a good top flight manager. He's a loveable rogue rather than a nasty git.

I wouldn't cheer him but I wouldn't boo him either.

I think he should be served some canapes and a touch of champagne, and some bonhomie.

He's a glass-fitter done good, with mangled borderline mockney M25 syntax and a way with the ladies of generic football clubs that means he's this side of the suburban Ralgex fence. He got us on the move and did us fine, and then allowed us some ritualistic 'revenge' on the back of the pantomime bollocks of interchanging managers.

He knows he's a bit of a twat, but he's not doing so bad these days and will finally mature in his sixties or seventies. Good luck to him for surviving in such a southerner-resistant zone as Southern Denmark (aka Newcastle).

I will remember him for knowing who Richie Bowman was in a photograph in the 40 Watt Club/Jazz Club.

And for that I'm in for a lukewarm, indiscriminate blini-based function room welcome.

Cheers Pards, you thaumaturge.
