Lower West
bcubed But is there any evidence that there has been a reduction in fouls dives and play acting as a result of VAR?

Soon be like American Football where it takes hours to actually play 60 minutes. Every time the ball goes dead, they'll need to be a review of that period of action.
Yep.

Even rugby is starting to build a VAR backlash

Simple solution. Put a 60 second time limit on a VAR review. If it takes longer than that then it is too tight to call (and therefore not clear and obvious error) and therefore it should be “ref’s call” ie stick with the original decision.

Who knows, but they should be heartened by their 2nd half performance today. Really need a good striker and they could be vying for top 6.

Really ?
Even with a decent striker they look no more than a midtable side.

They started the 2nd half with energy and tempo. If they started their games like that, it might be a different story!

To be completely honest I have no idea how they are on the points they are and in the position they are based on todays showing. Thought they were horrendous especially considering our mish mash of a team.

Only because we had already long turned 2:0 cruise control on.

Yep agreed, thought they looked awful. With Meite and João would've been a repeat of that 5-0.

They definitely tried a bit harder but at no stage did they look a decent team. They put a couple of decent crosses into the box once they had chucked their big lumps on but at no time do they do anything to compare to the move for our second goal.
Energy and tempo just sound like trendy ways of running around without actually achieving much.

Admittedly they never looked good but that doesn't mean they didn't create chances

I was looking at their forum and the layout is like a throwback to 1998. I gave up after 5 minutes because it hurt my head. What little I did glean is that our pitch is shit and we always contrive to beat them.

Have always had an irratational hatred for Reading since the Simod cup final day. A nothing club with plastic fans who all support a Premier league team but turn up to the Majeski bowl to show some kind of local loyalty to their town. The hatred is made worse by the fact that they seem to have a hoodoo spell over us. It seems that our players feel the same way at least on the first half showing. We stood off too much, let them dictate the game and offered little in the way of creativity while looking shaky defensively. Not picking up our men gave them a 2-0 lead which despite our poorish performance was still flattering for the home side. Game over. Can't give any team in the championship a 2-0 lead especially your bogey team. We tried more second half, getting the ball forward more urgently and created a few half chances, certainly an improvement. Lua lua scored with a shot well outside the box whic bounced just in front of their keeper and into the net. Too late however and the result I expected pre match became a reality. Have said it before and will say it again we look a championship team and just need a bit more fortune in front of goal. Would like to see Lua Lua given more minutes. He has a goal in him and is a handful for any defence.
We regroup and try again.

Apparently were a nothing club the poster hates because we won the Simod. Makes sense.

There will be 2 million disabled people on Employment and Support allowance who didn't get the £20 a week uplift Universal Credit got who dont feel the same way.

We have a two tiered welfare system with disabled two million disabled people getting £20 a week less than everyone else and the Government have no intention of ever fixing.

Luton were utterly utterly dreadful in the first half, the worst performance I’ve seen by a team at this level since... well since we played them last season. Looked completely out of their depth against our reserves.

In the second half their delivery improved (possibly because of the substitutions?) but how many times was Rafael challenged?

The football was absolutely dire, probably due in no small part to the terrible surface, so maybe it was an off-day for them, but they looked a long way off this level.

I'm amazed they survived last season, and I'm absolutely astounded they're not right down in the mix this season. Thought they looked terrible against us, can only assume they normally play significantly better than that.
