So with Danny Williams, Paolo Hurtado & Michael Hector all in squads which play on the other side of the Atlantic on Wednesday; will any of the three actually be available for Ipswich??

Not a massive issue if they're not imo.

I think we'd miss Williams as he seems to be playing well atm.

That's the beauty of having so many players at the squad now.

Could quite happily get away with:

- Fernandez taking Williams' place
- Ferdinand in Hec's place (standard at the moment)
- Choice of John/HRK/Piazon/McCleary/Obita in for Hurtado

The Irish press are saying that Mcshanes injury is minor,"Back and hip stiffness" and expect him to be ok in a few days.

I hope Ferdinand is not put in Hector's place. Would leave a gap in the defence.

Not sure how we can see Hernandez would be a straight swap for Williams. Have we seen enough of him to say that ?

I suspect Willaims will do everything he can to be back but it seems crazy to have a game on the friday of international week.

So if McShane is injured, does that mean we'll be giving the armband to a loanee? Have we done that before? Maybe Leigertwood late in a game after a sub?

Hector probably won't play on Friday after playing on Wednesday.

If Williams, Hector, Hurtado and McShane are all unavailable, I'd expect Gunter, Ferdinand, or maybe Obita to captain the side. McCleary, Quinn, and Norwood would all get the nod before any of the non-Hector loanees. Doesn't sound like McShane will miss any domestic action though.

Might Griffin have worn the armband after a sub (or more likely, given that our captains at the time were Mills and Howard, a sending off)?

Was class for us. Only negatives I remember were a defensive oxf*rd up at Preston away (when Karacan scored the worldy) and being crap in the playoff final.

He's a shout for the loan player armband actually. He could have had the armband late in a game at some point.

Danny Williams came on as a first half sub in the US's 4-1 loss to Brazil on an extremely hot evening in Foxboro Mass. The US was outclassed the entire game as Brazil dominated building a 4-0 lead at a canter. Danny replaced Alejandro Bedoya in the 35th minute and scored the lone US goal, an absolute screamer from distance, in the 90th minute to give the US a very late consolation goal. The goal was very well taken and Danny gets marks for giving an effort to the end.

I don't think it was in the plan for Danny coming on that early but it was a necessity. I think Klinsmann was planning on giving him the second 45 minutes of the game. He drove the team forward on a few occasions in the 2nd half, picked up a yellow for a foul, did not give the ball up as cheaply as his teammates did, made a few nice passes to help get the team forward and tried to stick a foot in to slow down Brazil but it was a tough night in every regard for all the members of the US squad.

Not sure if he will be available for us on Friday after playing 55 minutes in that heat on Tuesday Night. We are having near record heat for this time of year in New England. The high today was 95F. It had cooled into the 80'sF by game time but the heat had to take an extra toll on the players...especially the ones who play club football in the UK. They can't be used to that kinda heat...

Here is a video of Danny's goal. It was the lone moment of pure class for a fairly classless US team on the evening.
