Nameless Suspect it's more about the right mix of players.

If he goes then presumably Hector goes to cb and Guthrie starts on Saturday. Leaves us lacking any kind of taclkling in midfield. Perhaps someone is on the way in.....

I think that is a safe bet, Hector seems to be rated by Adkins and the fans and obviously he's still young. Hopefully this facilitates a move for a midfielder (or two).

Royal Lady
Royal Biscuits If Cardiff are silly enough to bid £2m+ for Morrison then we should be offering to drive him there. He's a decent centre back but the fact in a year he's gone from being McAnuff's stand-in as captain to not even being considered for the captaincy says a lot.

Ferdinand (presuming he's a signing that Adkins wanted and can get fit) > Pearce > Hector > Morrison

Perhaps he wasn't considered for the captaincy because Adkins wanted rid? Or knew he might have to sell him.

Or maybe he was considered, I don't think we've seen the short list .....

Unless it's for silly money which admittedly Cardiff have considering their sales, this is strange. Only silver lining is that we may see Hector have a run in the team at CB as Ferdinand clearly isn't match fit.

Not bothered by the move. Adkins clearly will feel either he doesn't want him or the money is worth the sale to be invested into either other areas (LB/ ST) and or a CB who fits his style and can pass it from the back.

Why?
Either nigel thinks he is shut
Or we've received a silly offer.
Or we need the money to buy someone we really need
Or a combination of some/all of the above

Or the Thais have pulled out and we need to sell him to pay the tax man.

Dont think it's A, but B and C probably. I think Adkins will get a better balanced squad when the dust has settled and he's used the money wisely.

Agree Brenders, very odd sale of a bloke who seemed to have Reading DNA. Still young and improving. I for one would like a decent explanation about this. Unless I later find out Morrison has gone for silly money, I will be upset.

But like with Federici and McCarthy, Adkins wants players comfortable on the ball who can pass it out from the back and neither of our CB's are great at that, but Pearce is slightly better. If we get an decent bid for Morrison that then allows Adkins to bring in someone who fits the style of play better then I am happy with this. But we need to have someone is pretty quick becuase we light on CB's as it is.

Just out of interest, what would you quantify as silly money? I'd say anything around £2-3m and we should snap their hands off! Of course, it could be that Morro was perfectly happy here, but Cardiff offered £££££ that meant his agent was, shall we say, extremely motivated.

Would be happy if we get roughly £3m for him. Assuming we use the money to buy a centre half that is comfortable on the ball. Not sure this is sending out the right message to the rest of the squad though, especially those in the last year of their deals.
