South Coast Royal ....
We may not be in quite such dire straits (are we?) as Wigan but I have sympathy for their fans and hope that both clubs get on a sound financial footing sooner than later and of course that both stay in business and don't end up doing a Bury.

We've both spent a lot of money for nothing.

YorkshireRoyal99 Yeah it's a real shame for Wigan really, always thought they were a decent club.

A lot of clubs in the Lancashire area all fighting for the similar positions and struggling to differentiate themselves. It's tough enough getting investment for a lot of the clubs in the lower half of the 92 without having several clubs sat on your doorstep.

Though relegated, Rochdale are actually a really well run club and about the only league club up that way last season without some sort of financial issue. Their relegation is because they simply don't have the money to compete (now fully fan owned I think) now that the 4th tier is becoming full of "billy big-b*****" clubs like Salford etc. and they're just not willing to spend beyond those means. Really hope they get back to the league quickly.

Maybe it's because there is no money, or maybe it's because the players are not motivated enough. 8)

Snowflake Royal We don't really want another defender used to failure.

Find that an odd comment TBH. Ben Mee was an integral part of the Burnley defence, that came close to relegation in the 2 years prior to them actually getting relegated.

Moves to Brentford, new surroundings, new manager and amongst some pretty excellent candidates wins their supporters' POTS. To paraphrase the old stocks warning, past performance is no guarantee of future success.

It isn't but there is a difference adding a defender from a "losing" team into the defence of a "winning" one, that has confidence in its ability, to adding a defender from a team that has done badly into a defence that is already performing badly.

It is not guaranteed to go wrong but as confidence levels will be shot, there is a stronger chance it will.

Wouldn't disagree, but there's every chance that only Holmes and Yiadom are the defenders used to failure, if we bring in someone new to replace Sarr, a stronger left-back plus a new keeper. And a new managerial team, that will hopefully instil some organisation and confidence in whoever we retain and sign afresh.

It's going to be a very limited pool of players, if we're only targeting those accustomed to success.

McIntyre and NGW are also used to failure, add to that keepers who haven't exactly been on the front foot, or are just starting out in their careers, and you can see exactly where some of the issues are coming from. And that's all before you take into account the zero fan confidence and clueless managerial appointments on top to help back it all up.

What is it with Derby fans, with the rumour mill circulating about our current predicament that they appear to be on social media celebrating our impending demise?

Snowflake Royal Well the PL has proven that attracting foreign talent does little to improve England's performance.

And English players have rarely travelled in any numbers.

So I'm not really sure what the English leagues lose from all the high paid foreigners oxf*rd off.

Oh no, the big x won't be winning any European trophies. Shucks, the other 80 odd clubs will surely be devastated.

Are you absolutely sure about that ?

Recently we seem to have reached a semi, a final a decent effort in a quarter final, and that’s just the last three proper tournaments (Nations League is the Papa John’s International Trophy)

That's 20 years on. In the 90s we made 2 semi finals. Just natural variation in performance.

Speaking of Chinese owners f*cking up football clubs......Alfie at HitC Sevens latest documentary is pretty disturbing. West Brom look to be in utter pooh, a club riddled with hidden debt and loans are literally running out of money and have some very strange investors. No more para payments, this might be the suprise package to go down.

The quotes also highlight the extensive work done by the local MP to help get it through....

If we need the local MP to step up, wer'e toast....

Some up there are a bit concerned as he is a rugby man at heart and they reckon he did it to protect the rugby teams access to the stadium. They are concerned there won't be much investment.

However I can't see that being true, as he has links in the community and a reputation to uphold.

Ron Gourlay said last season when they took out the massive loan that it basically meant they had to go up or they would be up the creek without a paddle.

Remember playing them in division 3 in the early 90s. Hopefully we can overtake them this season to avoid that scenario next season.

Rumours suggesting Barnsley may be about to lose their best central defender to Luton and also that Swansea are after Michael Duff.
