Paul Ince appreciation thread

by Pepe the Horseman » 21 Feb 2022 10:25

There's been a lot of negativity around our new interim leader, so can we all post something nice about him? Can be a gif, a fun fact, or a memorable moment from his career.

Here are some fun gifs to start things off.

Lol, what a card! x

Lets remember how fcuking good he was as a player. Was the ultimate hard man midfielder, was magnificent in Serie A for Inter at a time when it was the best league in the world.

Amen. Surprised he only got 50 odd caps for England. Also only just found out he played for Swindon.

Obvious image to contrast with what people may sometimes perceive as modern day mollycoddled footballers

At least with his reputation as a midfielder maybe he won't stand for our midfield going missing and letting players just glide through unopposed.

In all fairness, I'm not actually that negative about him being in interim charge as it is right now.

His record is decent, it's a change for the players and it's a bit of a no-lose situation for himself anyway. If we go down, it was a sinking ship anyway, but if he keeps us up then he's done his job.

If he isn't here for the full season and perhaps we suffer defeat during the week and then at the weekend against Blackpool, it may prompt us to appoint a full time manager then and hopefully we can see an improvement from there. Although I wouldn't bet on the club doing something that sensible really.

NathStPaul Paul and his daughter.

Just found out he's the uncle to former S Club Juniors and The Saturdays superstar Rochelle Humes, and he helped raise her. Because he's a stand up guy.

Could we see some appearances from Rochelle and Melvin at the SCL? I hope so!

Macclesfield Town
He joined Macclesfield with the club bottom of League Two, seven points off their nearest rivals. He then revived confidence and after a 3–0 win against Chester they managed to climb off the bottom of the table. They subsequently avoided relegation, albeit on the last day of the season.

Milton Keynes Dons

Ince was unveiled as the new MK Dons manager on 25 June 2007. He was named as League Two Manager of the Month in October and December 2007, and again in April 2008.

Ince's first silverware as manager came in the Football League Trophy final at Wembley on 30 March 2008, with MK Dons defeating Grimsby Town 2–0. He then secured the Dons' return to League One on 19 April after they beat Stockport County 3–2. A week later, the Dons became League Two champions after they beat Bradford City 2–1.

This was the game that afterwards Gazza described Ince as "looking like a pint of guinness"

As long as he doesn't believe in zonal marking he should be OK ...
