Hound Be nice if Mbengue, Fornah, Azeez, NGW and Abrefa all hung around and continued developing with us

Be a nice core of good newish young players to build round

Yeah, tbh this already doesn't look like a particularly awful team does it...

.......Holmes, Mbengue, McIntyre
Abrefa.........Leavy, Craig..........NGW
....Azeez..............................Camara

That looks pretty decent and I do believe that the future can be much brighter with good sensible management of the club.

I’d be interested to know if anyone knows much about Carson who signed for the under 21s today?

Had a search round, can’t really see why he left Accrington

Had a couple of loan spells with non league sides. Left back/ LCB

Has had a couple of very good games in the u21

Cheers for the info, it definitely feels like we have a real plan with recruitment now. I know we haven’t had much choice this season due to the embargo but we haven’t signed too many duds tbf.

Yea definitely - all for this type of signing

To add - he scored a great long range goal vs Arsenal and seems to have been very popular in his loan spells etc. Accrington fans seemed a bit bemused he had left them from the small sample I saw

From what I can tell, he left because we offered him this opportunity but could be wrong.

He would have needed to have been out of contract there though. If he made a conscious decision to not sign a deal and hope someone showed interest it was pretty brave, would show he has confidence in his ability even if his CV to date has nothing of note on it….

Well Accrington's website just has this story saying he has left, so possibly a bit of mutual consenting - he was on loan at Stalybridge Celtic and scored 4 in 11 there, including a hat-trick, but all parties must have been happy for him to move on esp. as no fee involved.

Reading between the lines i reckon RFC/ his agent were very keen on him joining after our new recruitment team had spotted his ability and potential.

In January ? Players don’t tend to have contracts ending mid season.
And why would a club like Accrington let him go OOC if he has such potential ? They just needed to offer anew deal to have made money on him.

Reading’s summer triallist, Connor Wickham, is now on Cardiff’s books having signed in January after spending the first half of the season with Forest Green Rovers. He’s made one sub appearance for Cardiff so far.

I suspect the rest of the country are thinking "WTF, Cardiff v Reading?".
On a par with something like a Rotherham v Preston or Wigan v Hull type of fixture.

Will watch but only out of duty.

When the game was picked we were 3pts outside the play-offs while Cardiff were 2pts outside the relegation zone, so perhaps they potentially saw it as a clash with importance at both ends of the table? Still sort of us even though we've both extended our gaps over both respective position since then.

Maybe they see it in the same vein as QPR, that match up seems to get picked a disproportionate amount of times, for the "Hoops derby" maybe this is seen by Sky as some sort of "M4 derby".

Obviously doesn't seem a great pick in hindsight

Would think Cardiff have a good TV following. And we always used to be one of the more watched sides when televised. Plus both comparative easy to get to with good facilities.

Well if we win, we'll be 3 points outside the play-offs and if Cardiff lose they'll be 2 points outside the play-offs having played 2 more games that the bottom 3.

So in many ways, it's as big a game for both clubs as it was when it was picked - arguably bigger for Cardiff.
