Pepe the Horseman Just seen Zane Monlouis has been called up to the Jamaica U23s squad. Completely forgot we signed this guy. Obviously not injured, any idea why he hasn't been making the squad?

Would imagine he was bought in with cover in mind as we were probably a bit uncertain as to who was going to stay/leave in Jan and cover for any injuries.

Yep, he was only ever cover and is a Kia client - for him this will be an experience of training regularly around a first team squad. He is probably "unlucky" that Mbengue and Bindon have worked out to be a decent pair.

Yeah, I don't think anyone saw Mbengue performing as well as he has done at CB since Abbey left. He seems like a real positive influence in the dressing room, and certainly with the fans, so wouldn't be looking to drop him at all.

And probably no-one thought we would have so few injuries so cover was vital.

Yeah, that as well, for sure.

CB was Mbengue's best position by far, so whilst it was far from certain because he'd had a real wobble recently, its also not a surprise given he looked decent in the Championship.

Looks like everyone's fit for tomorrow, including Holmes.

Dorsett slight concern but should make it.

Entire squad available for tomorrow except Hutchinson who barely counts.

We've done a great job keeping players fit this season. We've had some injuries to Smith, Holmes, Dorsett plus a season KO to Ballard, but we haven't had constant ongoing chronic issues again.

Which is fortunate as we would have run out of players!

Selles's sports science background has definitely helped us this season, given our size of squad we'd be down already with the average injuries we've had in the last 3 seasons.

It's even more impressive given how many games Azeez, Knibbs, Smith, and Wing have finished despite putting in huge shifts.

Would really like Selles to take them more often, but he clearly knows the players who can take it and works to that.

Any idea why Yiadom came off last night and how serious it could be?

a recurrence of an injury that's plagued him all season according to selles, taken off as a precaution. hopefully he will be ok, was summing up selles comments in the post match interview

Abrefa in for Yiadom

Since Holmes moved to Luton and then came back he's played part of 1 game and then never been seen again, hope that loan didn't cost us anything!

And talking of non-sensical loans, is Zane Monlouis still alive?

Think I'd have Pereira playing Saturday and CBC v Blackpool.

Must be the best season in the last 5 or 6, very few long lay offs.

Monlouis played for the U 21’s in the win at Brighton a week ago today.

Perhaps Mbengue has surprised a lot of people inside the club with his form too. Certainly when Holmes first got injured I thought he was a significant downgrade and Monlouis would get a chance once he was bedded in. A lot of people called for Dean away at Stevenage. But fair play, Mbengue has grabbed his chance with both hands and Monlouis has missed out because of it. It's how the game works and is still something he can learn from.
