Back From The Match

Didn't show up for the 1st half, Bryn didn't look comfortable at CB. Bikey looked excellent in midfield and Lita & Long worked hard for the team.

I watched the whole game on the internet and actually thought we did pretty well first half and thought we looked the most likely to score until fowler did.

Bikey had a great game and also thought oster and little did themselves no harm

Thought we held our own until the 43rd minute. Missed both 1st half goals as went to the loo before getting the beer :( but have the highlights on sky+ so will watch tomorrow.

Bikey looked more solid, I would say Halls had his best game for Reading tonight. All in all, thought we did very well and really can't wait for the 1st team to play in 10days time!

1 last thing, you can't but help getting shivers down the spine when 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is sung before the game and the scarfs go up. Oh, and I still hate that scally accent!

Back from the game (by coach)

Halls was dreadful and Bry solid at the back. Bikey had a very good game with Long and Lita playing well up front. Reading took the game to liverpool in the first half and until the first goal, Liverpool had hardly had a chance. With another goal at the end of the first half and a third at the beginning of the second half, Liverpool looked much more comfortable than they had done. But towards the end, Reading were unlucky not to get the equaliser when the ball rebounded off Lita just the wrong side of the upright.

Agree about the 'Never walk alone' but after that, I was amazed at how quiet the Anfield crowd were.

Thought Halls did ok actually, made a few silly mistakes and looks unfit but overall one of his better games. I enjoyed seeing other options in the centre of the park cos we can't rely on Harper and Sidwell all season. Bikey was great in the middle alongside Oster who kept trying to make things tick but struggled at times. Little was good, Hunt worked tirelessly as per normal. Long tries hard and is learning all the time, Lita played well chased a lot more than normal. Stack was poor again in my opinion, doesn;t organise back 4 as well as Hahnemann and punches too much and not far enough when he does i.e. Straight back to Riise after initial shot.

Fowlers goal was quality, and Gunnarsson was poked in the eye by the beanpole b4 his goal. It was a cracking finish and meant most Royals left on a high.

As above the 'NWA' rendition by the Kop is spine tingling and the scarfs and flags look quality!

I used http://www.tvandsportstreams.com which seemed to work well. Did cost £2. Only other place showing it was Afreeca but didn't work for me.

Well, that was a cracker. Excellent performance from Reading, desperately unlucky to go in 2-0 down at half-time. For the first forty minutes we really controlled the game, had the better possession and played the better football. 4-3 was probably a fair reflection on the game, though they really were hanging on for the last ten minutes. The very quiet Anfield crowd were pretty relieved at the end. A great stadium to watch a game in, the YNWA at the beginning with the scarves and flags is a real spine-tingler, but the only noise last night came with the goals and subsititutions. Let's hope there's a better crowd for the league game. They seemed quite bemused/intrigued by the noise, support and mockery from the Reading end.

Some really good performances from the fringe players. Halls and Oster had decent games, Bryn showed his class and Bikey was excellent. Bit rash at times, but he's comfortable on the ball and offers something different. Little was superb and fully merits a start on Saturday. Hunt was back to his tigerish best. Lita and Long worked hard - as ever - the hold-up play wasn't the strongest.

Stack - 6
De la Cruz - 6
Ingimarsson - 7
Gunnarsson -7
Halls - 6
Hunt - 7
Oster - 7
Bikey - 8
Little - 8
Lita - 7
Long - 6

Very good summary of the game, I thought Oster and Little played really well last night. Oster was playing some lovely balls out to Little, who put some really dangerous balls into the box. I'd love to see Little start against Portsmouth.

Would be very interesting to hear that without the help of the tannoy system at full blast! When it first came on half them didnt seem to know the words!!

Dissapointed with Anfield and the liverpool fans - quieter than I expected. Looked a bit confused when the Reading fans were still singing at 3-0 down.

Thought it was obvious to anyone watching that Little needs quite a few more games before he's back regularly in the first team. He did ok, but his touch let him down more times last night than it did the whole of last season.

Impressed with Bikey and Oster. Long showed his inexperience a few times, especially when through on goal and ran it too wide.

Overall the only thing we have lost is the game. We have not lost any players to injury, lost no pride and hopefully some players have gained in confidence. Plus we can now concentrate on the league.

Would I be right in thinking that Glenn Little played on the left wing? From the highlights, it looked that way.

My take on our boys last night.

Stack 5 - Nothing he could have done about the first and third goals (I haven't seen the 4th on tv yet) punches too often, when really he should be looking to catch, or if he is going to punch, at least get it as far away as possible

De La Cruz 6 - Seemed to get more involved as the game went on, but I'm really not convinced by him.

Gunnarson 6 - Played well, but got caught napping for the 3rd goal and got a poke in the eye by the sounds of it for the 4th.

Ingimarsson 7 - Solid game, but seems to play better with Superman next to him

Halls 5 - Rubbish, the man just looks totally unfit and wouldn't fit into my plans if I were boss

Hunt 6 - Some decent crosses when he got the ball in, but Pennant got the better of him all night, not enough trickery to create space.

Little 7 - Time for the first team nod for Mr Little, great delivery in set pieces, lost the ball a few times, but certainly worth the nod for Saturday

Oster 7 - Seems to be proving a point at the moment, at the heart of the team all night long, always looked to be creative, but played the simple ball when required, something for Harper and Sidwell to think about, Could this be Oster's new best position?

Bikey 8 MOM - Really got stuck into them last night, Won most tackles he went in for, played the simple ball all night long, looked comfortable on the ball and coming forward.

Long 6 - Always looking to make the run into space and waiting for the direct ball over the top from our midfield, a few bad first touches should have done better with his 1 on 1.

Lita 6 - Better 2nd half from Lita, same can be said for Leroy as I have for Long with regard to the first touch and looking for the direct balls to run onto, lets hope the goals will give them both some much needed confidence.
