I included Spurs in the run of 7 tough games from Manchester United and then have that followed by a run of 7 less tough games.

In my thinking, I had us as 4 points on that 7 and ... looks through wallet ... bollocks. Lost my pocket fixture list.

H Charlton - W
A Fulham - L
H Bolton - D/L
A Newcastle - D
A Watford - W
H Blackburn - W
H Everton - D

Giving us 12 points, although anything above 9 would be a success imo. That would put us on 22 - 25 points with half the season gone.

I would say that if we get a run going, 5 or 6 wins from that is not unimaginable but would require a near superhuman effort from the side.

I guess I get the prize for most pessimistic supporter on here - 2 points! However, it's all conditional on the next two games - if we steal a win from any of them, I'd so we'll get more from the rest because our confidence will be up. If we don't I can see serious trouble ahead.

We only need 8 points - as that will take us to 21 with half the season completed - and then doubling that is 42... which should be enough.

I think it'll be as follows

Tottenham L
Charlton W
Fulham D
Bolton L
Watford D
Newcastle L
Blackburn W
Everton D

Thats 9 points which keeps us on target

Knowing us, could be any number of points. Expect a few surprises. These are certainly the teams we need to be taking points off and I for one will be very worried if we have not got at least 3 points by the time we come to play Fulham.

You're not wrong there - 1 game in and we've already got 1 more point than you thought we'd have. Keep the pessimism up though as it seems to work.

FWIW:

Charlton (H) - WIN
Fulham (A) - DRAW
Bolton (H) - DRAW
Newcastle (A) - LOSE
Watford (A) - WIN
Blackburn (H) - WIN
Everton (H) - LOSE

11 points means 27 points before Xmas and so only another 13 to stay up!!

I guess this only goes to prove what a complete an utter rubbish Reading fans are at predicting results.

Just the one person predicting we would beat Spurs!!

The key for us is not to draw games. We seem to not be able to do it much in the last four seasons, not since we went on that nine game drawing streak in Division 2. In fact we have drawn the less games than Man Utd and Chelsea in the Prem.

Keep that up, get to 26 points before Boxing Day and we have a very realistic chance of staying up.

I should say so! That would only leave us needing to get 14 points from 19 games to reach 40 points which should be safe. In fact if we matched that 26 points in the second half of the season that would give us a figure not far off a UEFA cup place
