Spurs game-the biggest win in RFC history?

by Victor Meldrew » 12 Nov 2006 19:29

Walking away from the ground with another old-timer he suggested that this was the biggest victory in the history of RFC.
He also lived through the era in the very early 60s when Spurs did the double and of course they have won FA Cups,League Cups and (?) the old Cup-Winners Cup.
Man City won the league later on in the 60s but haven't done the double which I believe has only been done by Spurs,Man Utd,Arsenal and Liverpool.

So today beating Spurs in a league game and not some flukey cup win is surely Reading's finest achievement.
Also the fact that Spurs have 6 players in the current England squad adds to the merit of our win but sadly it also says that the current England squad is not that great.
Well done RFC l-today has been a bit special.

I don't know about about biggest win, but certainly most important....

This result was crucial for so many reasons that I'm not sure peeps know just how much.

Off the back of 5 straight losses, the first of 5 home games in a sequence of 8 matches which I believe will determine our season, the confidence factor, beating a team of the likes of Spurs who themselves were on a good run of late......it goes on....

This game showed we can compete (certainly at home) against teams outside the big 4-5 and make no mistake, Spurs are one of those sides who are at the higher end of that second league within a league....

Massive result today.....

Yep, agree completely.

Aftr the past few weeks there was a big question mark hanging over us. the players stepped up and answered that question in the best possible way.

Imagine what we'd be feeling like if we'd lost today - and imagine what Charlton are feeling like after watching us play the way we did today.
