I'm starting to get excited. I will be on the phone at this time and can't listen in. Don't suppose someone could post the name here when it's announced along with any other details. I wonder if it could be someone who played for us in the past, left Reading F.C. and is now 're-signing'

Shorey failed his medical at Upton Park and has decided to pen a new deal with us instead?

Bit cynical on here aren't you, I'm sure that BBC Berks wouldn't use the term high profile player to describe a re-signing of an existing player....

I am therefore now anticipating the arrival of Luis Figo

(but will have to be satisfied with Steve Hunt in the end)

If it's not Hunt, it will be Ashdown. I wouldn't get too excited if I were you.

I'm sure someone will, then someone else will start a new thread with the news and get Dodded. I wouldn't even rule out the possibility of a third or fourth bright spark deciding to break the news on another thread about it.

Either way, there will be an abuindance of threads for your info and the mods will be kept busy.

Don't think they would make a big thing out of Hunt signing. Could well be Sidwell, or maybe we signed someone, we'll see.

You reckon!? The club have a history of making these announcements only for it to be something (relatively) trivial.

Pretty confident it is nothing to get excited about.

I don't think that they are making a big thing about it intentionally, but considering the transfer window has just opened, any press conference is bound to generate a high level of excitement.

I still think it will be Adam Federici's 25 yr contract.

hmm surely re-signing refers to a new player who used to play for us. If they were saying its an extension of a contract or an existing player singing a new contract then fair enough
