Quality and entertainment

by readingfc_4_life_and_beyo » 30 Jan 2007 16:05

I remember not so long ago, sitting at this computer, on this very website, typing about the same thing. That time though, I was not happy. The football was abysmal to watch, boring, just an addition to a week where not much happened. The team wasn't much different, apart from a few lazy, poor, boring players making up numbers in a team with an otherwise decent bunch of players.

Steve Coppell was still in charge then. Pardew had only just been sacked, around half way through a Championship season which started with loads of promise, and there came our demise to soon finish outside the playoffs. Many weren't happy, "Coppell out!" rang around the board with the normal sly tone of many posters on the board, adding to the boredom of the overall Reading FC thing, catching the odd three pointers.

Fast forward to now. Put in three simple words, "I am excited". Not because it's a big team :? it's Wigan. But I still am looking forward to the usual Reading style of freeflowing football, pushing on, getting crosses in, and most importantly a club, my club, playing football, at the top level. Although at the top level, even at League one standard, i'd be sure to be watching my beloved Royals, at an exciting and truely magnificent time, of which goals come from no where, powerful and amazing tackles come flying in against world class players to tame their brilliance, with the brilliance at this club.

Anyone else, who was around when Coppell first came in, knows, but is anyone else excited about practically ALL matches nowadays?

Great times. But just like i was at the JJB earlier in the season.. i will be thinking about when they ended our play-off dream and clinched there promotion. Was gutted. Hopefully win tonight, to get that off my mind.

Pardew didn't get sacked. He walked out on us, and it was only 6-7 games in!

There is always the comment that we will "get caught out" next year, but I cant see why, we are not "route one" chasers, we play good football on the ground, chase hard and shut the opposition down, and atack with pace and have goals throughout the side ( apart from Murts that is !!) all the ingrediants of a successful prem club

howser and have goals throughout the side ( apart from Murts that is !!)

I had to laugh when we had a free kick about 30 yards out and, as Murty ran up to take it, the crowd were shouting "shoot". I don't think the Sky commentators understood it, as they just let it go.
