Ask a policeman

by kevan » 04 Mar 2007 13:30

Great moments from the police yesterday

After the game they were clearing the stadium, when we said we were going to stay and watch the after match show and let the crowd die down - as advised by the tannoy, they told us we could not.

When we explained the annoncement we had just heard the officer (not A PC) told me that you could only "watch the after match show before kick off"!! When I explained about time travel he just blinked, then got annoyed.

Leaving the ground I asked 4 separate PCs which way towards Kings Cross so we could walk clear of the ground and look for a bus or something - none of them knew and all gave the same excuse - "we are not from around here we are from Enfield" Apparently this is another country and the plice from there do now know directions or where they are, I am concerned that these officers should not be left in new places as they could become lost and confused.

Lost in time and space - sounds like an episode from swiss family robinson.

I particularly disliked the idiots who blocked off one of the streets for absolutely no reason and therefore extended our journey back to the car by five minutes for no reason.

Had the opposite experience with an officer at the ground. Arrived very early and was given perfect directions to the best pub by a policeman.

Other than Arsenal tube station being shut due to a broken down train on the line

And why does a tube line being closed mean they need to close an entire street? :?

Agreed. Thanks to them we missed the first tube and had to queue for longer with an extra 300 to wait for the next one.

Oh ok that would explain it as I planned to walk on the tube line as opposed to the pavement.

myself and carla walked to our bus stop and ended up being sent down a fenced off street that would usually be the queue for the tube, , which as we know was closed so had to go ages back and recross the road as were not allowed to cross near the tube!!

Interesting comments.

Just going through my phone pics from yesterday and was reminded of a very drunken conversation I had with a copper who was on a police horse. I gave him my phone to take a picture of me and some mates and he was cool about it.

Not all bad then.

They often use police blocks in roads around Highbury to allow traffic through and to reduce congestion in and around the tubes.

For a 60,000 capacity ground in Zone 2 of London I think it clears pretty quickly.
