Asst 1...G Beale (red and yellow flag)
Asst 2...P Kirkup (yellow flag)
4th official..D Deadman
PGMO....C Wilkes

Other royal appointments include:
09/04 2005 Sunderland 1 READING 2 http://www.royals.org/matdoc/090405.html
29/11/2005 Arse 3 READING 0 (league cup) http://www.royals.org/matdoc/291105.html
31/01/2006 READING 4 Norwich 0 http://www.royals.org/matdoc/310106.html

Was that a secret sign in the photo to say that I'm going to send Sonko off in 5 minutes time?

Mason is a pretty good referee. Has a lot of common sense. A welcomed official IMO.

Why is Clive Anderson reffing this one again? After 90 mins I'm sure the crowd won't be laughing.

Sonko sending off was as clear as they come, last man brought him down. Letter of the law says he is off. You can argue the law but not at Mason because he is just applying it.

Sonko fell over rather than attempted to bring the Villa player down.

Oh, great.
(This is the 2-1 away Villa defeat we are talking about, yes?)
Sonko didn't deserve to go - he tripped over his own feet.
Pen, yes, red card, no.

I think most players would fall onto others if they'd been tripped over and then obstructed by them through use of diving so they had no other option then to 'trip' or fall onto them. If those were given all the time there'd be 20 penalties a game as players would fall over for the entire 90 minutes. FIFA are doing their best to follow your example of making football a boring mundane non contact sport though - well done you.

I simply said Mason was following the laws of the game, and by those laws it was a clear sending off. Appears that you agree with me by your last comment on FIFA. As I said you can argue with the laws of the game but not Mason for applying them.

The law itself is a joke - it should be for intent, although it's irrelevant in this case as it wasn't a foul anyway - if anything it was a foul the other way.
