This may have been created by the time i have written this so...

A lot to cover so i will try and sort all the information by putting them into category':

The Club

Feels we are moving forward obviously, next year is a clean slate, felt the major point was how many goals we would concede this year to define whether we survive. The chairman is the anchorman on how far the club can go...as its all about the money invested. Made a point of us having a big transfer fund in the chairmans bank account still. Was happy with the stadium expansion and said Nigel how pointed out the ground could of been sold out 4 times over for the Liverpool game.

Potential Transfers

All the staff are looking all the time, but feels the players will come in from abroad as they can't afford the wages for the fringe players at the top clubs. We need 3 or 4 players which he is trying to complete deals early. He wants to add pace to the back and cover for Shorey, and a strong player in the midfield. He would also like more creativity on the wings and more 'impact' players, though these prove costly. In negotiations to sign Andre Bikey, Peter Mate is uncertain..they will speak to his Hungarian club in the summer.

Sidwell

Unfortunately '100 percent' leaving the club in the summer. We can't compete with the clubs involved vying for his signiture. Though made a point that he is one of the worst paid players in the squad this year as he hasn't a new contract.

Pitch

Investing 1 million into the pitch, are replacing everything from the drains upto new winter lights to make the grass grow, so next year we will have a better playing surface.

Training

All players committed, he said their passion has high and was like 'world war 3' at training today with commitment levels and he was pleased to witness the lads giving their all.

The coaches

When he agreed his contract he negotiated for all the staff to have their futures sorted as long as Wally Downes isn't in Jail he said  ....They are different personalities but they work as a team very well.

Pre Match Routine

Gain oppositions team sheet at 2, have a meeting sort out corners etc, then the players listen to 'shit' black music till 2:20 then go out and warmup. Chairman comes in at ten to three and talks to the players.. Didn't know to many superstitions although he can pinpoint to the second when Harper goes for a piss and pulls his socks down before he goes out for the game..and apparently Ron Grant gives Murts a big hug and puts his captains armband on.

Fringe Players

All players playing for contracts, there will be players coming and going in the summer as he wants around 21-22 players otherwise it upsets training etc in the camp. Stack needs to 're-establish' himself here so i think he maybe off, and we apparently have 9 centre backs??? so some of them will be going to.

The Forgotten

Convey in America after surgery, is in contact with the club regularly but can't put any weight on his knee, though will be back in the country shortly. Asked whether Halls was a mistake signing...he denied and said Halls could be a regular or even a squad player but has been injured for the last 5 months with an achilles injury.

Retaining Possesion

Interesting point when asked about games against Arsenal, Spurs and Blackburn at home(2nd half)... we don't have as much possesion as other sides though we attack quickly. The problem is where you lose possesion. On your own box you have a problem, on their box its not as much of a problem. He said he was happy to play the way we do and attack quickly, rather than have a lot of possesion and do naf all.

Random Bollocks

Blakey had 16 first teamers singing Sweet Caroline in Spain last year. Coppell enjoyed it as it showed team unity but hates the song...though is a big fan currently of 'The Killers'.

Felt Bikey can look brilliant, but also someone who has their 'L' plates on.

Has a degree but only a 2:2..and his final piece of work was on the British and American railways :D

Not happy with Graham Poll as Alan Pardew told him he made an agreement with Poll about Song... Though they both denied this after.

Wally Downes apolgised to Coppell about Warnock incident, and Coppell quietly congratulated him  ... Downes also received over 100 texts from managers etc asking him why he didn't smack him one.

Probably more things to cover but i literally can't type anymore, hope most of it made sense, and you can oxf*rd off if you think im editing it

My first fans forum, thought it wouldn't be interesting, though Coppell speaking by himself was fantastic, and was a really enjoyable evening.

Im sure i missed some things out, but was a lot to take in

Didn't mention Golbourne at all when talking about cover, i think hes going to invest in a new left back it seems, and is looking for a central midfielder who can learn quicker than Sidwell (3 & Half years here to become who he is).

Felt the Reading youth were to 'nice' and needs some other players maybe who have had a different upbringing, if that makes much sense

This went straight over my head, didn't even realise it was on! Shame because I was looking for something to do this evening!

Im not sure whether this occurs at fans forum's with other clubs but Im happy with the way the club is very open about the running of the club. Secrecy causes problems so its important to avoid it like the plague!!

Cheers

He also called certain people in the media "knobheads" and said that what Neil Warnock indicated at the Sheff Utd home game was unacceptable and that it was ridiculous that the FA failed to act on it. Before adding "but we'll bring him down somehow"

Brilliant as always!

I'm a bit worried about the statement on wages and only looking abroad for signings.

He didn't say that though...

He said that we couldn't afford 'ready made' replacements for the likes of Siddy - ie there is no way we will go out and pay millions in fees and millions in wages. He said we need to be able to spot the up and coming players and develop them.

He did comment that European players were more affordable and realistically would be our best source of quality players - which is doing no more than saying what we all know. But he definitely did not say we were ONLY looking abroad.

I know, I simply meant that realistically our only major signings are going to be from abroad and unknowns from the sounds of it. Yes there will be some Halford style signings I am sure but will these players be able to walk into the team? After all, we are losing our starting central midfielder and need to improve various other areas of the squad

The gaffer has somehow turned Steven Hunt into a class player, so bring on the unknowns..

Well done Coppell's right foot for taking such trouble in posting.
Although Sidwell will be allowed to leave because of wages I have this feeling that the chairman will spend quite heavily this time around.
Remember those days in the lower divisions when we were the big-spenders-the Butlers,Forsters,Caskeys ,Murtys and so on .The cost equivalent (allowing for general increases in costs of the better players)of those would probably now be in the £4 million or so bracket each and there is now the little matter of £30 million plus the leftover money from this year's budget.

Even more exciting times ahead especially if we get that European place and the ground capacity is increased sooner rather than later...oh and the sun has just come out.
The future is most definitely bright and blue and white.
I wonder if Mr Pardew whilst driving one of his many flash vehicles takes time out from thinking about crumpet to consider what might have been rather than being the man responsible for 2 sides getting relegated in the same season.
Thank you Lord for bringing us Steve Coppell and the charm and modesty that goes with him-so different from the charmless and arrogant one of yesteryear.

Another point Coppell talked about was Europe which i forgot to add.sorry. He stated if we get into europe we would go for it but we would need to bring in another 3-4 players on top of the targets already. He didn't seem to enthusiastic on the idea saying would cost us a lot of money and also maybe uinrest due to a much larger squad

More information keeps appearing in my memory from last night.

Interesting point for all those who rate Shorey...im in this boat BTW.

England scouts 'HAVE' watched Shorey on numerous occasions, and feel is a quality player and have recommended him tho McClaren upteen times this season.

However Mr.McClaren has ignored the opinions of his scouts everytime and hasn't even bothered to look at Shorey... :!:
