Next season-ins and outs

by lovetoscore » 18 Apr 2007 14:35

Who would you keep and who would you release in the summer? If it was me in charge....

Keep-Usa,Fed,Murts,Shorey,de la cruz,halford,golbourne,Ivar,Sonks,Duberry,Pearce.

Little,Hunt,Convey,Bryn,osano

Lita,Kits,Doyle,long,Cox

Get rid-Halls,Bikey,sodje,Seoul,Harper (this should cause some controversy!)

Undecided-Bennet

We are going to need a quality centreback,2 central midfielders and another right winger. If we finish where we are now there should be some cash in the kitty-unfortunately if we don't pay premiership wages (like we should have paid sidwell to keep him) we will get championship standard players

over to you

A few fringe players plus Sidwell will leave (Halls, Sodje, Oster, Cox poss).

Bikey will sign and I hope we get the following:

1 left back
1 striker
1 winger
2 central midfielders

As a minimum.

Keep Duberry / lose Bikey ?

Get rid of Harper ?

Lose 2 central midfielders and only buy 2 (when we are 1 short there already ?)

Shut Graham Stack up in a cupboard somewhere and forget him ?

Presumably with John Oster, Peter Mate and Aaron Brown ?

I'd certainly change the centre backs (Brown, Sodje surplus to reqts, 1 new one in)

Add 2 midfielders to the current

Add a Kitson type centre forward

Add a left back

Release Halls and Oster (not from the cupboard !)

Loan out Long, Cox, Pearce and Henry

Keep Stack (but he'd be 3rd choice and I suspect would ask to go, in which case sign a 3rd keeper)

We are losing sidwell, why lose harper as well. He is better than Sidwell!

I would keep Seol and Bikey too i think.

I'd certainly keep Seol, so much ability but Coppell needs to work out how to use him.

Is he better starting and letting Blakey come on for the last 30 mins to play against a tired full bac ? Or should we let Blakey get first use of the pitch and throw Seol on when Blakey tires ?

You think bikey is better than duberry?! Yes i would keep stack if he wants to stay.forgot about mate if he is ever going to be fit.Keep Brown as one for the future.Think cover for shorey would be good but not priority yet as dlc, bryn and hunt can all play there

Yes, and younger, and will improve, and will be lower wages !

lovetoscore forgot about mate if he is ever going to be fit?!

Coppell has said that they owe Mate the chance to show if he is good enough. Forget him if he isn;t going to be fit, if he is then try and extend his loan by 3 months.

.

May get the compassion vote like Mate but Brown is 9th in the pecking order - pormotion has stuffed his chances I think and we need to trim the numbers in central defence !

Don't think Bryn has played left back, I wouldn;t fancy Hunt there either although Convey has played there. None are good options (although you miss out Goldbourne who is the other LB on our books). It's a weak area, we have no experienced cover there and I guess much depends on how the loan spell at Wycombe has gone for Goldbourne. I would look for a utility back, left footed, who would cover there.

Not really fitness that is going to be the issue, is it?

Bikey will sign....

Coppell has spent all year working on his temperament and adapting him to fit into the English game to then say thaks but no thanks, only for the Bikey to then sign for someone else in the Prem...

Raw talent yes, Coppell is looking to transform him into a polished gem..just like Sonks and the 3 irish lads..and hopefully Bennett

Have faith in Coppell, he knows exactly what he is doing...look at the way he has handled the Sidwell situation...No player is bigger than the club...that's what we are all about and why we have got to where we are...

Thought i'd pop my post cherry on this topic.

I think we should keep Bikey and De La Cruz. De La Cruz has played awesome in the recent games he has played for us, but if he is looking for regular starts then fair play if he wants to leave.

We needs someone like Bouba Diop in midfield, it was so funny on Saturday watching Harps try and get the ball off him, hes a big lump!

I'd agree about Diop..... not sure whether him and Sonks get on - do the Senegalese players resent Sonks not committing to them ?

Think DeLa will be offered 1 year and turn it down, sadly.

I remember how people were talking about De La Cruz at the start of the season saying he was a waste of space etc... Just proves that Stevie seems to be able to get the best out of what he has got! Made me laugh on Saturday, 2nd half, when DLC got the ball in defence and did the old skool Glenn Little kick it round the player and run on Simon Davies. Wouldnt have seen him do that at Villa!

At Villa he had his confidence shattered by a shit manager, you could literally see he was scared shitless of playing when he first joined us, he's very much regained all his confidence at Reading and he's back to the same sort of player that prompted villa to buy him.

I'd like a really good centre forward - Martins, Yakuba, Carew - sort of class. Sadly Kits is not cracking it like I hoped.

Diop or similar in MF to replace Sid.

O/wise reasonably happy with what we've got assuming the injured recover. Halls, Stack, Brown, Sodje to go.
