The FA have released the following statement today:

'A Disciplinary Commission hearing today considered charges issued after incidents during the Premier League match between Reading and Sheffield United on 20 January.

'The clubs admitted failing to ensure that their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

'The Commission decided that Sheffield United should be fined £10,000. Reading were fined £5,000.

'Reading coach Wally Downes was given a one match touchline ban and fined £2,000. He admitted a charge of improper conduct.

'A charge of improper conduct against Reading Academy Manager Eamonn Dolan was withdrawn.'

From the BBC

"The Football Association has fined Sheffield United £10,000 and Reading £5,000 after a touchline fracas during their match on 20 January.
Reading coach Wally Downes has also been fined £2,000 and handed a one-match touchline ban.

Downes had admitted a charge of improper conduct.

That match also saw Blades substitute Keith Gillespie sent off for swinging an arm into the face of Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt.

The incident was followed by the altercation between Blades boss Warnock and Downes who were both, consequently, sent to the stands.

Downes was seen to confront Warnock, seemingly for a kicking gesture made by the Blades boss, sparking a brief brawl involving substitutes and backroom staff from both sides.

Warnock's said after the incident that his gesture was made in order to tell referee Mark Halsey that an earlier tackle by Reading's Steve Sidwell on Blades defender Chris Armstrong had been the worst of the game.

According to Coppell, Downes thought the United boss had instructed his players to kick their opponents.

A charge of improper conduct against Reading academy manager Eamonn Dolan was withdrawn.

Reading won the fixture at the Madejski Stadium 3-1. "

It was just a storm in a tea cup...........

Sometimes the FA can really overreact to minor incidents.

Was Warnock fined and charged? For Blades to be fined £10K can only be as a result of Warnocks stamping action. So therefore shouldn't Warnock have been charged?

Maybe he has been so maybe I'm talking b*llo*ks

Right so, Wenger gets a slapped wrist and a £2,500 fine for having a go at the referee for the umpteenth time and Wally Downes gets a touchline ban for one little shove.

Utterly ridiculous.

I think it's the fact that the incident wouldn't have happened if Gillespie hadn't punched Hunt and been sent off. The FA have seen the Sheff Utd players as the main agressors and censured them accordingly.

So verbal abuse is worse than physical abuse now is it?

Seems fair enough - both sides guilty so some extent, Sheff Utd's higher fine down to the fact that without their involvement nothing would have happened and Wally given special punishment given he reacted.

I'm referring to the number of times some crime has been perpetuated. I think this was the first time Wally has been in trouble with the FA. Wenger has been in trouble many times and yet keeps getting off with a warning.

But Wally ran in to the opponents technical area and shoved him. Anyway being fined isn't a warning, it's a punishment after being found guilty.

Wenger can afford £2,500. Can Wally afford to pay £2,000?

What will we use to hold up the dug out during the one game suspension of the WALL. And what did it do so wrong in the first place to warrant a suspension?

It's obviously absurd to suggest that Colin was instructing his players to kick ours. Why would he need to do that? They always kick our players to death anyway!

I have no doubt Wally will be receiving substantial donations from all sorts of people towards the fine !

Seems like a reasonable result, apart from the ludicrous fact that the instigator has been let off scot free....

That's ok then. Meanwhile Arsenal continue to benefit from Arsene's presence on the touchline after yet another warning, whilst we are deprived of Wally's input for one game.

Is it because Arsenal is a bigger club?
