Probably the ideal position for the longer term future of the club.

How much money do we get for that?

And what second season syndrome? Wigan there for a third! Will Colin still be able to moan about the ref, given that it was his side who should have been down to ten men for a lot of the second half?!

Great finish. 6 places better than I thought we would do. Fantastic team effort and spirit lead by SC....bit of a shame we will not be taking 6 points off Colin next season....

Close to tears sums it up perfectly. 2 years a go we were an ambitionless club looking as if we didn't want to get Promoted, constantly bottling it when it really matters. Now, today we finish 8th in our first ever season in the top flight, with the respect of the vast majority of fans everywhere.

The boys did us proud today, and for the whole of the season.

UUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Predicted to go straight back down....

How wrong can some pundits be...

Extremely proud to be Reading...right now...

SSN has Merse doing the match and his comment of the afternoon was after he got gunnars name all wrong...he said 'this Reading team just never give up, never know whn they are beat'

Has the penny finally dropped!!!!We have more spirit within our squad than the rest of the Premiership put together......Bring on next season....

Apparently applauded off by the Blackburn fans (another double averted)

Strength in depth ...Seol and Godarrsson scoring

Character....behind three times today..we didn't lose

Even Murty said the best we could EVER EXPECT was tenth

Involved in the Premiership hellfire or hell, right to the very last second.

What more can you ask for?

Season ticket prices doubled? so what the f8ck....Eighth thats why

Would much rather see Jay's post from the start of last season stating that 'even the most optomistic of Reading fan knows we can't even make the play offs'....or something along those lines

I think we get £6,279,000 for 8th. (From 107fm so don't shoot me if wrong!)

Absolutely fantastic!

Well done to all the players and backroom staff. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for next season.
Shame about Europe but maybe we will be glad the players took the biggest possible Premiership prize without having to over-commit the squad next season.

Proud, unspeakably proud to be a Reading fan on this historic day. Thanks to JM, Steve Coppell and an utterly magical squad of players. And the funny thing is, the commentators were making it sound as if we'd 'missed out' (on Europe)!!! How many Reading fans think we've missed out?

Could it ever get better than this?

My son had a bet with a muppet at work. The bloke said Reading would come eighth, so I said did you give him odds? No, the muppet was happy to go with evens, even though Reading could have finished anywhere. Idiot.

Or not.. How could he win that bet?

Still, Eighth is brilliant. Only another goal, or a Villa goal at Bolton or a non-disaster against Watford and we would have been in Europe. I'm not too worried though. I am sure there will be chances in the future.

I'm already starting to work out who we will finish above next season as a safety scenario thing. I think Wigan, Middlesbrough, Fulham, the play-off winners, maybe Brum, Bolton (with little Sam I think they are going to fold). I think that should see us safe. Anything on top is a bonus.
