Coppell Out

by Royalwaster » 12 Jan 2008 19:26

OK the tenor seems to be that SC is not good enough:

a) he can't sign decent players

b) his team selection is suspect - he trust the old crap, and doesn't bring in our young stars

c) his tactics are weak

d) he doesn't make substitutions when he needs to.

OK, so does that mean we should get rid of him and bring in someone else - say Big Sam? Put your money where your mouth is boys!

There's no reason at all to get rid of Coppell. You should be ashamed of yourself. He can only work with what he's given or allowed to buy and that is the problem at the moment, not him.

There's nothing that warrants a lock on this thread unfortunately.

Royal Lady I agree with you about Coppell, I thought it a while back. He HAS taken us as far as he can imho, at least unless he is able to spend big as detailed above.

I think the thread starter's post on another thread indictaes he doesn't actually want Coppell out himself... FWIW.

Royal Lady I'd try and enjoy this season as much as possible, gentlemen, I truly think Sir Steve will want out at end of the season, whether we stay up or not and if our wage plan continues to stay the same, once we're relegated, we'll never return.

Absolute bloody nonsense. That's the whole point of the financial constraints on the management of the club - it is to ensure that should we get relegated everything is in place to ensure that we can bounce back. Madejski is securing the long-term future of the club. That might not suit everybody; obviously there are many supporters who think now we are here the best way of securing the future is to spend everything we possibly can on playing staff to ensure we stay in the PL to keep getting the Sky etc. money. JM obviously doesn't agree that is the best way to run the business and neither do I. This isn't about taking risks with the future, it is about securing it!

Okay, maybe we are paying wages more in line with the Championship but that is hardly going to stop us from succeeding in the Championship is it?

Financially we will be stable, and we have the stadium, the academy set up, the facilities etc. that are worthy of a Premier League club.

Your doom and gloom is tiresome.

Totally agree - at last one voice of reason. I also doubt that SC is fighting against the board. I think he very much sees eye to eye with it and agrees with the policy. There's been absolutely no evidence of him moaning about not being able to sign players because of the club's wage structure. Quite opposite I'd say.

RZR - ONCE AGAIN I re-iterate, I don't want him to go, but I think HE feels he's done what he can here and is planning to go at the end of the season.

Coppell Out? Nah.

But questions should be asked of his utterly tiresome team selection, the fact that he never brings subs on until it's far too late (another 3mins for Long today) and today's lineup and tactics were so bad that in itself should question anyone's sanity!

There isn't anyone out there who could manage this squad of players any better, The problem is that some of these players just aren't good enough anymore.

Hey guys I'm not saying that he should go - but all the crap said on this site blaming him on and on seems to suggest that people think he's not good enough. I still think the biggest disaster that could befall us is if he left.

What about those two players? Both are playing awfully at the moment. Doyle is a tidy player going through a lack of confidence in front of goal. This is where a manager should take Doyle out and try one of the others. Shorey I am seriously concerned about. He is playing really poorly at the moment.

You're kind of contradicting yourself ... on the one hand you're accusing SC of various tactical errors - 'tiresome team selection', 'bad subbing', 'lineup', 'tactics' and at the same time saying no-one could do the job any better. What's the point of going on and on about what SC should do better if as you say yourself no-one else could do a better job?
