Great assist for Lita on Friday. Who says Harps can't create goals?

Wow. A deflected pass through a tiring, and thoroughly awful, Watford defence.

What has your shining-like-a-light-from-heaven idol Marek done this season?

I personally thought Harper had a good game on Friday, but the goal was made by Lita, not Harper. Leroy found the space inbetween the defenders, held his run to stay onside, and was pointing for ages to where he wanted Harps to play the ball. Harper finally slid the ball through to him, but did his best to give the defender the chance to cut it out, getting a lucky deflection into Leroy's pass rather than it being cleared past the half-way line.

These are the sort of chances Leroy thrives on though. None of this back-to-goal rubbish.

Still he managed to miss about seven of those kind of chances against Newcastle last year.

Nowt. And FWIW I believe Harps is a vital member of our team. However to say he creates goals regularly is laughable.

And he actually did some tackling. I thought everybody on Hob Nob says he can't tackle, always ducks out of it?

The one thing that's astonished me since finding this forum - which I'd never really noticed amongst real-life Royals fans - is how biased some people can be for or against our own individual players. Thankfully, this trend only affects a minority, but clearly this goal is above partisanship - true the Watford defence was completely stretched, but surely it's Lita's job to a) help that process and b) exploit it. Similarly, Harper's job in these circumstances is to find the pass and time it as well as possible. I'm convinced that it would have still found Lita without the deflection, albeit he might have needed a touch more acceleration to get to the ball ahead of the keeper. So, good run, good pass, good goal. Nothing else to discuss here, surely?

When he's brave enough to pass the ball in a forwards direction.

Harper was looking to play Lita in, the smallish deflection was hardly one which totally changed the direction of play.

Lita took the chance very well, as you would hope a player of his quality would.

Although apparently he consistently tops the clubs analysis of who makes the most key passes...

LOL. Just about all our goals come from the wingers, so if Harps gets a 'key pass' from merely passing it sideways to either Hunt or Kebe, then fair enough.

It did make me snigger on Friday when we were on the attack and a poor clearance fell to Harper, who controlled the ball nicely and then turned around and passed it back to our defence

Was a good pass for the goal mind and would have reached Lita regardless of the deflection.
