MERGED - QPR: Back from the game

by hughsies no.1 » 31 Jan 2009 18:52

thoroughly enjoyed the day as a football supporter. was in lower tier, we stood for whole 90mins singing and sang throughout half time in the concourse even though it was potentially the coldest i have ever been at a football match. one of the best away days of the season so far for me.

the game itself really was a game of two halves (excuse the pun). first half we played long desperate football and qpr played it round us yet we still created two great chances and im informed the save camp made from cisse was top draw from tv. second half we really came out and went at them. the difference betweeen the first and second half was us playing the ball on the ground. we looked so much better in second half and really should have gone on to win but a point is still a good result in my eyes.

Players:

Lita looked really fired up, did a lot of chasing back and won a lot in the air. good performance
Doyle worked very hard as ever
kebe was not at his best and fustrated a lot of royals around me when bailing out of that header
harps: was he playing???
cisse: solid and made some great tackles but a few dodgy passes
armstrong: did reasonably well against routledge, he always causes up problems
dooobs: solid
pearce: great in the air but his distribution is woeful!
rosie: very good performance
Hunty: came in and out.few silly errors as ever
feds: solid

What a shit game. QPR are a decent side but in all honesty we should have beaten them. Apart from a 10 minute spell in the 2nd half we failed to put them under any pressure. Harper and Hunt were both awful. MOTM for me was either Pearce who was brilliant or Cisse. Fans were fantastic.

I see Coppell is blaming the scrappy football on a swirling wind. Didn't seem too evident to me although it was cold with not much to cheer. The programme said "(Reading) play some lovely, free-flowing attacking football" but not in this case.

Surprised no substitutes were made to try to mix it up but I got tired of head tennis and hoofball between opposing players. Well, QPR have beaten both Brum and Wolves on their home turf so I guess it's a point gained.

BOOOBS.

What a boring game. Fans in lower Z3 were on form. And Winchester royal was wearing a lovely hat.

I was down there too. You see the old couple who moved after the first 10 minutes.

Boring game today. Birmingham scored a 93rd minute equaliser against wednesday as well

,.... good result though to be fair. Can't complain with an away point against a good team.

Upper tier was rapidly being emptied out from around 20 mins into the game by stewards. Frustrating and pretty non eventful game with only sparked to life in a brief 5 minute burst when we pressured their goal. Almost but sadly not bundled over the line after Lita's header was saved off the line. DOOOOOOOBS was totally committed and clattered into the hoardings. We stood back way too much (again) and allowed the opposition to punch massive holes in central midfield. Why o why did the likes of Harps step away and allow this to happen. Again too much heading of the ball or miss-timed passes that went straight back to the opposition players. We were absolutely dire in the first half, and only slightly better in the second half. This had nil nil written all over it very early in the game. Bloody cold too, and i suppose the prevailing wind could be an excuse for some of the lumped balls falling short.

Awful game, awful atmosphere to what it could have been and absolutely freezing. Only saved by the fact that the nippers ticket was free.

Why didn't Coppell make any subs? (except Gunnar in the last minute)

Why bother? Those on the pitch were more than capable of finishing the game. No need to make subs for the sake of it.

I though Doobs was going to get subbed when he clattered into the hoarding. He looked slightly dazed after.
