Brian McDermott's Barmy Army!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Millsy » 30 Jan 2010 19:09

Congratulations Brian.

Come on Reading!!!!!!!!!

I've made my feelings on this appointment no secret and I'm not changing my mind or knee-jerking because of this slender win...

I'm simply saying what's happened has happened, like it or not Brian is now our man, he's delivered the goods today and whatever happens between now and the end of the season I for one will back him and his boys. 100% behind the lad. I know a lot of you are too.

Let's make our support known loudly and clearly....

I heard the first (brief) outing of above mentioned chant today. Bit of a mouthful but just about scans, and seems only fair given the way things have gobe since Rodgers went.

Happy for the fella and delighted with the three points.

Yeah, there was plenty of bloody fight in them today. They stopped them building on their posession, not a classic but three bloody great points for McDermott.

Well done Brian.

And a home league win at only your second attempt. Under McDermott played 3 at home, won 2, drawn 1. Not bad...

Can we not sing that please? It's a terrible gob full.

How about

Super, super Bri
Super, super Bri
Super, super Bri
Super Brian McDermott!

And why oh why are people still singing Blue Army like it's a race? Enjoy it and make it last. Sing it that quick and you run out of breath. It's much much more effective slower.

Thanks. Yep I was very depressed indeed, but it was probably just it all just hitting me in the face in one big go what has happened to our club. Like the final straw. I'm letting go of the "we should be in the Prem", "we should have Coppell or someone as good as Coppell" and am just thinking "screw this, even if we're at the bottom of league 2 I'll love this club" so it really doesn't matter.

Good to see someone who clearly is/was a fellow chantstarter and who knows the deal.

Super Bri is a good chant that'd work well.

And that Blue Army speed up is just stupid. I've been complaining abotu it for years and years. It was the younger lot who seemed to introduce it - the lot in Madstad in the SouthEast corner IIRC. Those too young to remember the days we used to sing it slowly and powerfully.

Sung slowly and powerfully it'd build up incredible momentum and last for almost half a half sometimes... I remember walking back from Elm Park unable to speak on so many occasions thanks to that chant. So powerufl though it'd make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Any chant sung by opposition fans would fail against this constant droning of blue army and opposition fans woud just give up trying to chant. And you would visibly tell the players would pick up with a constant audible reminder that we're right there behind them. Awesome days, totally missing in recent years.

Now it's sung in a hurry like it's some sort of quick 20 second chant and has almost no effect.

Perhaps that's what we need. Back to our roots as Reading boys supporting our local club, the local way, as we once did. Singing with passion as our total underdogs play out their skins to beat a bigger side. We once againhave a humble team and a humble new apprentice manager (who we should support)... maybe we just need some humility back in the fans and we'll get our passion and hunger back again. and who knows - maybe we'll learn to chant like the old days and actually be player 13 rather than moaning spectators....

I said it would be.

Renowned for being the one looking almost suicidal when going a goal down and taking it far too seriously... only to proceed to be the first one to raise up my voice and get the southbank/east stand singing again.
