West Stand Man Its my understanding that a huge proportion of the fans get involved when TH is played, so that blows a hole in your case. The problem is that it is 2 or 3 people who are complaining - they are just all on this board and extremely vocal about their view.

Try watching the crowd next time we score and you will see the effect that TH has - and it is quite noticably positive.

a) it is more than 2 or 3 people complaining on here
b) usually if more than a few people are complaining on HNA they are representative of the majority - notice that only a handful of people have come out in favour of TH on the other thread
c) the reaction on saturday proves nothing - after we score people feel exuberant and will sing along to any old sh*t against their better judgement (myself included) - and then regret it later when they see it on MOTD. The reaction would have been just as positive with a) another song or b) nothing at all.

Ever heard the phrase "silent majority"? We are much more vocal about saying what we dislike rather than what we like. So it would be much more likely that those who hate the song poist than those that like it: a) they are happy with the status quo and b) they'll probably only get grief for stating a contrary position to the vocal minority on here.

The only fair way would be RFC to have some kind of ballot of match-goers. I'd still expect most to be apathetic towards the issue, though.

There's a difference between being apathetic and thinking that there are much more important things to spend your time and energy worrying about and that certain people ought to get a sense of proportion.

I'm in the latter camp.

rabidbee a) they are happy with the status quo

They don't play this anymore at the end of the game though. Bring back the Quo.

FWIW, I don't particularly like Tom Hark being played when we score, but as I'm so happy when we do, I usually find myself getting involved, much to my dismay. Would agree with other people on this thread, really don't see why we need any music played when we score.

Exactly, it's the only time the whole stadium sings, and loudly. It also looks good from where I sit when I look across at the South Standers doing it.

Nothing to do with us scoring a goal of course, it's all down to Tom Hark.

Exactly. Our first goal againt Boro was hark-less. Just as good, just as much noise, and no-one doing a little dance and looking like a simpleton...

bobby1413 It's my understanding that the majority of supporters wish that Tom Hark was removed from the goal celebrations. The only problem is trying to get the club and combined effort to tell RFC we don't want it anymore. Obviously if 2 or 3 people complain it won't do any good.

Could BBC Berkshire use their profile and publicity to get a bit more interest in it. Maybe Peachy good ask for opinions from listeners during his morning show.

After Saturday's game it was a much better celebration after the first goal as their was no music, but the second goal and third goal it was dampened a bit by the music.

Surely the petition we did on here a while back would be enough.. there were about 200+ votes to have Sweet Caroline instead. I cant remember now.

Get in touch with the PA at the ground. This is their website http://www.backtheboys.com/ I'm sure if enough people suggest scrapping the music, they might well listen. This is the most direct approach you can get!

No it was shit, it went quiet after about 10 seconds. We have such bollocks fans the atmosphere is always shite, so when the music plays after we score it's actually nice to hear some noise.

Useful link that as it rather proves the point about the mass involvement in TH.

Proves that we were doing perfectly fine without it and TH kicked-in and then what do we look like ...
