QPROFL and Saints on telly

by Silver Fox » 13 Feb 2013 14:18

Home games against basement club QPR and Southampton are going to be on Sky

Southampton has come forward to 12.45 on Saturday 6th April
QPR is now 1.30 on Sunday 28th April

However, and this is actually a bit annoying as those changes aren't too bad, Saints might yet move to Monday night  if Man U get to the CL QFs (come on Madrid) and QPR might yet change to a 2.05 kick off (wut) if Liverpool get to the Europa League semis

I don't know how far SKy have gone up to on their schedule but hopefully this also means Fulham won't be moved

If Manchester United reach the Champions League quarter-finals they'll play Tuesday or Wednesday night, so can't play on the Monday evening. So their game will swap with ours if they get that far.

If Liverpool (or Newcastle) reach the Europa League semi-finals they'll be playing on the Thursday beforehand which means their scheduled Sat 17.30 kick off on ESPN will have to be put back to the Sunday. In which case, there would be 3 live matches that day with the Newcastle game kicking off at midday, our match starting after that to avoid a clash (even though on different channels) and then the Arsenal V Man Utd finishing off.

I think the schedules only go this far. So the 3 games in May could yet be televised (albeit of course the West Ham one won't change slots if it is.)

Hoping for United progression to avoid Saints clashing with the National.

It's only till the end of April that the games have been picked for. May games will be decided in about a month, not that Fulham being televised would be a bad thing of it was a 17.30!

As for this whole thing of the games possibly moving again, I don't think it's exceptable. In the past, when there's been a chance of a team playing midweek European football, TV companies have not been allowed to move the game from saturday and, if there's a chance of the team playing on the prior thursday, TV can only put it on TV on Sunday/ Monday. It's just another example of the TV companies become much more powerful! I don't mind them moving games well in advance for TV but when they start to take the piss like this they are totally trampling over the fans as well as the actual football clubs but nothing can be done because they're paying so much money!

Confusing

by jonboy29red » 13 Feb 2013 19:45

Saints and qpr games moved for tv but this was added as well
--- The Southampton game could be switched to Monday 8th April, 8pm, in the event thatManchester United are involved in the Champions League Quarter Finals.
--- The QPR fixture could be moved to a 2.05pm kick off on Sunday 28th April - in the event that Liverpool reach the semi-finals of the Europa League
--- Should either of the above fall back dates be used - the games will still be shown live on Sky Sports.
--- This completes the round of television selections for the month of April
--- All fixtures are subject to change.

anyone know why?

With a bit of luck we will relagate QPR when ever it is played that weekend - the media reaction would be fun if that happened.

I am sick of the permanent love in the media have with Redknapp - eg hammered at the weekend yet the BBC reporter kept going about "Harry's fine efforts" trying to keep QPR up.

We must have been around level points with QPR when he took over - kind of says it all with how both clubs are doing now.

It's also worth noting that our game v Liverpool on April 13th will be shifted to Sunday if Liverpool are in the quarter-finals of the Europa league

If there's a chance United will be playing in Europe the following week, why didn't Sky just choose their game for the Saturday & ours for the Monday?

Or would that involve thinking about the fans?

I'm also hoping for a move to the Monday as it would give me a couple of extra days holiday in Pembrokeshire. And aren't the trains to Reading still screwed on the Saturday?

When I bought my Saints ticket I'm sure there was no mention of it being televised.

It seriously puts me off buying tickets.

I'm continuing to fall out of love with football - and not just because we lost today.
