Man City fans now believe the top two tiers will be opened up as they only have 400 tickets left to sell...with a full week to go to the game. This looks like being a sell-out with only 2800 Reading fans at the game. :| Our club have managed a massive own goal here unless they get their acts together sharpish and get some more tickets.

Christof This thread has had more than twice the number of views as we have got tickets for the game, good work everyone.

Seeing as I appear to have very little chance of getting tickets for this game (423 points), I have emailed the club to request a definitive answer on the chance of the allocation being raised, and the possibility of them updating the website regularly on how many tickets are left (to save everyone queueing around the block for non-existent tickets). I will post any answer here if one is forthcoming.

Christof - the club has already given a definitive answer with regards to the allocation being raised - it won't be. 2800 is all we are getting. See their website although I think there is a link to the statement on this thread somewhere......

You'll be hard pushed to get updates with regards to how many are left. The admin staff will be rushed off their feet tomorrow & by the end of the day I would expect at least 80% of the available tickets to be gone already.

I suspect the admin department at Reading were far too busy trying to work out strategies as to how they can ostracise the remaining 18-40 year old males that still attend games rather than to bother with such trivialities as sorting out match day tickets.

RFC have got to pull something big out the bag and it isn't gonna happen. Wouldn't be surprised if that last announcement is the last they say on the matter.

Their 'free coach travel' has actually made it far tougher for themselves.

I'm gonna end up going to the game without some good pals, and if they do go, they will be sat far away. Worse for families too.

RFC, you better sort this out......... This will not be forgotten.

You need a ticket in the away end for free travel, but I think you should just complain as they did promise free travel for ALL reading fans...

I have posted on the STAR forum, just in case theres a small chance that it can help us all out.

The clocks ticking and give it a few more hours and the entire top tier will be in the hands of Man City's glory hunting fans.

I know its bloody late at night, but we need to do something to get this sorted!!!!!

there are only just over 10,000 remaining seats left to sell if they do open up the 9,000 in the top tiers.

i've made sure that I won't miss the game but it's no thanks to RFC

The point has probably been made elsewhere, but the quote from the club that they were keen for as many fans as possible to make it to the game, doesn't sound right to me when they haven't take all their allocation.

It means I probably won't be there on Sunday (although I'm still not convinced we will sell out as quickly as some on here have said).

Free coaches is a good idea in my opinion, but only IF those who would have gone regardless can still get a ticket.

(PS might ask the club if I can have my free travel to the Barnsley game instead - I'll meet them at services on the M1, so I am being quite fair  )

So we use Villa last season as a mark, not fully sold out, 1000 spare, christ i got in with sod all points. We fully blame RFC yet when the draw was made we had not got into R6 and faced Everton/Chelsea away, perhaps they did not believe we would even be there. This game is on TV, ok ESPN, but many will choose to watch at home and save the money. Perhaps the common approach of having cheaper tickets has increased demand as well, added to by the generous free travel from the Madstad to Manchester.

FWIW MAn C have under 300 tickets left now, all single seats, I counted, and as I did they were adding blocks to the sold out bit..

One option, tho I doubt it will, or can happen is to open the 3rd Tier to RFC fans 4000 seats up there, put them on sale at £25 each to our fans and let the Man C have the original area, stick with the free coach travel, courier the tickets down today, at least an extra 1200 would get to see the game, tho a distance away from the pitch.

Unfortunately this would require intervention from JM and the Man C board members, to try to make the best of a bit of a mess.

leicsRoyal Can't be bothered to start a new thread but what about predictions for day and time of all tickets sold??

I'll go for 11.10am on Tuesday.

I think it'll be some time on Monday.

I doubt that they thought about all the people that would renew to bump them into the 1600's and I suspect the promise of a ticket for everyone in that group is another cockup.

That could cost RFC around £80,000 in free travel so I don't expect they'll be pushing very hard for it. I wonder if they could even have found enough coaches to take many more at such short notice.

That would cost RFC around £80,000 in free travel so I don't expect they'll be pushing very hard for it.

PS we know who will be supplying the coaches, and it is very possible that it could be done at cost. Due to distance would only need one driver I think, 80 coaches required, 205 miles, so 20 gallons of diesel each way, £6 a gall, thats 240 plus 200 for driver, say 200 for Hmans, so about 56k,

Right, so Mills' talk about negativity was actually aimed at the business management side of the club who didn't contemplate us beating Everton and therefore didn't bother to plan ahead for that eventuality!

When they did finally get their behinds in gear they then wasted valuable days looking at the logistics of free coach travel, rather than the far more important issue of ensuring that all the supporters who wanted to go to the game would be able to get tickets!

They don't appear to have taken account of things like: the attractiveness of the opposition and venue, the cheap ticket pricing, how many supporters other, less well supported, clubs have taken and appear to have bottled out of taking a bigger number for fear of the costs associated with not selling them! Instead they put a considerable amount of money into providing free coach travel for just some of their supporters, a gift that is now being overshadowed by their failure to ensure that we have sufficient tickets to meet demand.

As for effective intervention from those high up in the club, would they have not been involved in sanctioning this massive cock up in the first place?

Firstly, thank fukk I bottled booking my train tickets on Friday on the assumption that we would get a further allocation. I had a sneaking suspicion there would be some sort of balls up.

On the point of us getting additional tickets, why is this even being discussed? The club have categorically stated that there is no chance of us getting any more. Their quite pointless statement that free travel would have been offered to everyone had we got more tickets just compounds this.

I have to say, I really don't like the excuse statement which references our poor away support in other games as a reason why we only asked for 2800 tickets. The undertone is definitely one of "well you're not really very good fans are you, that's why we didn't ask for any more tickets". Exactly how many away FA Cup quarter final matches have we played in the last 80 years?

People on here generally always do find something to moan about, even when there's little reason. This, however, is one of the times when there's every right to be pissed off. I guess those that are saying that there's no point getting angry about it would be happy for these epic failures to be repeated in the future? I'm don't agree anyone should lose their job over this as everyone makes mistakes, but they need to actually admit the mistakes and learn from them going forward.

Well that is one area they appear to be exelling in. And not just 18-40 year old males. They are striking far wider than that with 16 year old females and males well over 40 also thoroughly peed off and questioning the value in bothering to renew season tickets for Mickey Mouse productions.
