baggyroyal1871 I reckon Tom Hark should be replaced with the Sweet Caroline chorus.

I thought that was the plan

clauski Plus it winds up the aways

No it doesn't.

They just think we look like c*nts.

Given half of them do it back at us if they then score I think it is safe to say it has wound them up, even if they are thinking "knobs" at the time...

kevan We are always complainging about lack of atmosphee

A lot of the less vocal supporters need "cueing up" to do something and at least most join in to old Tom so leave it alone.

Surely the one time you don't need to create a manufactured atmosphere is when a goal has been scored?

You would have hoped so...

So what is the point of this thread if Tom Hark is getting dropped anyway?

Yes, and what about a snippet of the Royals anthem instead? It would get everyone involved and would be unique to the club

I thought Sweet Caroline has been adopted as the Royals Anthem? I'm hoping the fans start singing it too, that would be 'our' song. Sounds great too!

Someone I know who's doing work experience at the club says that they have made the decision to stop playing the music after we score. I think that this is in effect from Saturday.

Fcuk knows whether or not this reliable, but I for one hope it is.

Probably true as it does seem to be more of a FL thing. I lost count of the number of times I heard when other clubs played it, and I can't remember ever hearing a Prem club do it.

Let's just hope we get the opportunity Saturday to find out if this is true or not!

That sounded great. Just about to take off and the videa ended. Can't wait for Saturday!

I'm pretty certain Middlesbrough play goal music. Mind you, seeing as they only seemed to score in the UEFA Cup last season, that doesn't prove either way whether they play goal music for league games - who would know?!

Definitely. We don't need anything. The best home atmosphere I experienced was on the South Bank, where fans would spontaneously jump around in delirium. We don't need a song to lead our celebrations.

Whether or not it riles opposition fans isn't an important issue: what's important is whether our fans like it, and I (and it seems many others on here) think it tarnishes the celebrations.

Sweet Caroline etc. can be played in the pre-match build-up. But scoring a goal is a really special moment, and the celebrations should be left alone.
