The new soundsystem

by Das_Ding » 03 Sep 2026 10:08

Without wishing to grumble too much.... I get that the new ownership want to show off their new toys but: come on, that volume is wayyy too loud, no? Feel like I'm in Ayia Napa out here

On a related topic, time to bin off The Amazons - Black Magic.

And a smaller, now unreadable, tellybox screen.

I have joined the forum to post on this subject.

The sound in 1871 is really bad. I can't hear the music clearly, the safety announcement was muffled and not clear, as was the stadium announcer, when he announced the teams and did his rabble rousing bit before the kick off.

The old sound system was better.

I wonder if there are issues in 1871, and is anybody at the club aware of how bad it is?

I agree with this. It was just about tolerable until just before the players came out, when it was turned even louder. It sounded like the audio was clipping as a result and was struggling to hear my mate two feet away from me.

I have a (probably terrible) decibel meter on my phone, so I might give that a try on Saturday to see what it's saying.

That was the issue in the East Stand with the old sound system.

It does support my theory the system was never the issue, but the connections to and/or settings of the system. It always felt like they hadn't actually turned the speakers on in the stand and were assuming the sound would carry from the other stands.

The safety announcements were always clear though.
