Away Attendances

by M-U-R-T-Y » 27 Jan 2009 14:52

Afternoon

Just a quick request, was wondering if there's anywhere other than the match programmes (I've only been able to get to one match this season vs Norwich) where I can find out our away attendances so far this season? Or would someone be so kind to copy them up for me?

Thanks in advance

Why do people care about how many fans go to away games?

How depressing - Over 200 people more saw a gutless FA Cup perfomance by a second-string team than saw a superb fightback by a team with character in a massively entertaining game.

... because for whatever reason, there's still the perception of some magic in the FA Cup.

Another couple of seasons should knock it out of us.

Tuesday night games will always attract less than a Saturday 3pm game.

I bet we would have taken more than 575 to Ninian had the league game been on a Saturday.

I remember the time when you would go to an away match and genuinely know every other Royals fan (bar the odd one or two) that were there. In the late 80's early 90's it wasn't unusual for between 30 and 70 to turn up to a mid week away game. Oh, how times have changed!

The price of progress or a sign of madness for those in the mid week away games.
The realities of midweek away games is the planning factor involved. Not helped i suppose when Doncaster is moved. As always there is the steady core of familiar faces who go to an away game come what may. It's only sometimes when we get the likes of Bristol recently that we attempt to sell our allocated tickets. Obviously the first season in the prem was a blip on away support, the second year started to see the drop off. The Championship is seemingly less glamourous than the prem as it's certainly not too much of a cost factor this season.

And that included the police, who on the odd occasion outnumbered the fans!

Ive got some old videos from 90-93 taped off Coast to Coast on the Monday night. I could usually spot myself at away games acting like a Retard with the rest of the massed ranks on the odd occasion we scored at our end.

Yeah, but I saw Nick Cave, so I'm still up on the deal.
