NathStPaul Saka rumoured to be starting. That is a lot of pressure to deal with for the kid but from what I have seen of him he doesn't look phased by anything.

Mount, Foden and Grealish on the bench. Huge call from Southgate.

Good call I think. Pace in behind and running at them is how to hurt this Germany side. Would it be 3-4-3, with Saka, Sterling and Kane uo front? Again, could see this neutralising their wing backs well.

Only concern is CM, where I think their options are simply better than Rice, Phillips and Henderson. But maybe we allow possession and play on the break. And we have options on the bench to bring in an extra man in midfield.

I think we can nullify them in midfield i.e. do a job on them

Our attack is possibly better (individual 'names')

Our attack has lacked fluency though. I do wonder if Saka is better at adapting because he has experience in a slightly dysfunctional team without a clear plan. Whereas Foden fits in brilliantly to City's well oiled machine, but has looked a little lost out on the right for England. Though by that logic, Kane should be on form too.

When we lose 4-0 is it still technically coming home?

Calvert-Lewin out of the 23. Woeful decision - surely he'd be a useful bench option if we're chasing a late equaliser?

Has it been confirmed if he is injured or not?

Definitely not injured. Why is Coady on the bench instead when we have Mings and James?

I think it's pathetic team selection but pretty much what we should have expected.

Maybe it'll work brilliantly but if we don't come through this game Southgate will deserve all the clown headlines in tomorrow's papers that will surely come his way.

So very disappointing to go into a game like this without (arguably) our 4 most creative players in Mount, Grealish, Foden and Sancho.

Southgate yet again not playing to our strengths. Prove me wrong you big nosed pragmatist.

Agree and I particularly can’t see how you can’t find room for Foden.
I would also add James to that group of 4

Fingers crossed we somehow eek out a win.

The two best bits about this - if we win, Southgate probably still won't get any credit, and that he did it anyway. Not the team I'd have picked, but if it works he's a genius.

Yep, just gotta take a deep breath, expect the worst, and see what transpires. If it comes off, fair play, if not then 99% of the country's football fans will be calling for his head.

I just hope, if it works, he gets the credit he deserves. He certainly doesn't get enough for our World Cup semi-final.
