He Guardian and the The Independent report it is imminent and a tweet from the Manchester Evening news saying he club refused to deny Moyes may go.

Always thought this was the wrong appointment. Moyes is a good manager, but you need to be a great one to succeed there.

Aging squad on the decline, following in the footsteps of a certifiable legend, Moyes' appointment had epic fail written all over it.

Odd decision IMO. Should have sacked him earlier or sometime next season if at all. What's the point now?

They want to alert potential candidates as soon as possible I'd guess.

But I thought United were a special club with special fans and they didn't do things like this :?:

I look forward to the likes of Rio etc sticking in the knife in as soon as Moyes is out the door.

I'm going to give myself a pat on the back for posting this 2 months ago.

You don't have to join in.

Royal Rother Ferguson did brilliantly last year with the self same team (virtually) that Moyes has.

That bunch of players who last year looked like a real team of fighters, capable of really turning it on when it mattered, of playing hard until the 90th minute now look like a bunch of no-hopers.

And it's supposed to be Ferguson's fault?

Priceless. Absolutely bloody priceless.

The players must certainly look at themselves but a top manager could not possibly have failed so miserably to get a tune out of the Championship winning squad.

Moyes is not a top manager. And now the Board know it. There's nothing more to say really.

No way will he be given £200m + to rebuild the team. No way. He's a gonner.

Man Utd need some top new players. It will be very difficult to entice them to OT without Champions League football, and doubly so when the manager has so clearly failed.

With either one of the 2 drawbacks outlined above in place they would have to pay well over the odds in wages to get the players they need to drag them back up the table. Without the £40m + from Champions League football and a probably huge hike in huge wages they could be heading for a big loss next year. And then an injection from the owners to cover it or face a massive fine under Financial Fair Play rules.

With that hanging over them there is, I repeat, no way they can take the gamble of sticking with Moyes.

It's more likely Fergie will be back managing them than Moyes still there next season.

He hasn't been sacked yet... and Fergie would be mad to go back given the state he left them in and how it's gone since.

There has always been zero chance that Fergie would be managing them next season.

If they sack Moyes after such a short tenure then they might as well get used to being a Chelsea and having stop-start management.

Despite their "predicament" Moyes deserves at least another season.

They can't afford to give it to him.

Do you really expect them to give him £200m to spend next summer?

No CL football means that getting top players in is going to be bloody tough anyway. Those top players would certainly be less likely to come with a Moyes in the hot seat, than, say, a Klopp or Ancelotti.

If they spend loads and fail to get into the CL again, then they would be very likely to fall foul of the FFP rules, and that would be absolutely catastrophic. They need to minimise all risks and that was always going to involve getting rid of a manager who has shown himself too far down the learning ladder to be trusted with that level of responsibility.

Agree with you on this RR and have done all season.
This is history repeating itself-it was a disaster for them when Matt Busby retired and here we go again after Fergie.
Amongst other things Moyes insults the intelligence of the fans (yes I know we have one of their thickos as a contributor on here but the fans aren't generally stupid) by saying things like he did after the Everton game about the team playing well.

There is talk about Giggs which would be even crazier and I think it will be somebody with European standing such as Capello or Van Gael.

Will be gone by tomorrow lunchtime.

He's looked increasingly out of his depth and his analysis of the Everton game was unbelievable.

Funny 'ol game/life. It was less than 4 years ago that Rodgers was virtually begging him for a job as his assistant at Everton.

Would Love Klopper to take over, would really add something special to the PL

Van Gaal would add something, mainly a grumpy old f**k that slags off everyone & everything

He certainly doesn't deserve it.
