Royals and Racers Utter shambles in the combined counties Premier Division South where the play-off semi’s scheduled for this Saturday have had to be postponed. I think it’s all about Jersey’s points deduction and possibly Redhill might also have infringed the rules. The league say the judicial process has to be worked through.

Quite a farcical situation : you really have to feel for Jersey Bulls, as it seems they did what they understood they had to do to meet the rules.
The race for the Combined Counties Premier Division South title could hardly have been more exciting going into the final round of fixtures last weekend: Jersey Bulls led Redhill on goal difference, with Whyteleafe one point behind. The Bulls, the only one of those three playing at home, had sold out Springfield Stadium for the visit of Sandhurst. But on the Friday night they were informed that they were being deducted three points and fined £120 for fielding an illegible player in last month’s 4-0 win over Tooting & Mitcham. “We understand the frustration, the anger, and the disbelief from supporters. We feel it too,” the club said in a statement. “When we started this club, we had nothing but the dream of giving our island a football team it deserves, one that we hoped our wonderful island community would take to its hearts, and one that we knew could be successful in the English leagues. That dream is not over. We have achieved so much in such a short space of time that we must not let an error, a technicality, and a decision that is out of our hands divide us.” For most of the final afternoon Whyteleafe, who led Fleet Town from the 12th minute, were going up, only for Redhill to score a 93rd-minute winner and pip them, but still the identity of the champions is unknown. The Bulls, who also won on the final day, have submitted an appeal, saying there is “significant mitigation” concerning a “lack of clarity on the number of yellow cards” (the situation does, to be fair, sound a bit confusing: after the player picked up his 10th booking of the season he was left out for two games before returning to the team. But it turned out that one of those 10 bookings didn’t count because it came in the FA Vase, which meant he was not officially suspended until after his next one, his first after the club thought he had been suspended). The league is investigating and the playoffs – due to get under way on Saturday – have been postponed.

Surely though there must be a system that records suspensions etc that clubs can either access or you know, ask the question of the league? i.e. Joe Bloggs just picked up his 10th booking of the season but 1 was in the Vase - is he suspended or not?

Personally, given the number of club secretaries that do their job as a volunteer while running normal jobs etc.. it’s unsurprising errors creep in here and there. Surely no player should be considered suspended though until the county FA (or league depending on who controls the discipline records) write to and/or email the club concerned to advise that so and so is suspended for x games. If that is how things operate then clearly the club have dropped a ricket.

Incidentally Jersey beat Sandhurst 1-0 so finished top of the table before the deduction. Sandhurst were relegated from the Premier as a result.

Overall doesn’t sound like a deliberate case to flout the rules but then non league is completely unforgiving and rarely seems to be lenient over things like this, so expect Jersey to be in the play offs, v Fleet I think it’ll be.

Truro do it! Champions of National South on GD after beating Stalebuns 5-2, Torquay enter the play offs after beating Hemel 4-1. Truro’s first season in their new stadium and a side apparently tipped for relegation by the media so a quite amazing season. Looking forward to their games with Morecambe, Carlisle and Gateshead being arranged for midweek!

Hope Maidenhead won’t miss out on the trip to Cornwall.

Final National League games for the club trying to avoid the drop (played on Monday May 5th at 3pm):

Maidenhead United (49 pts) v Boston United
Solihull Moors v Dagenham & Redbridge (51 pts)
Wealdstone* (50 pts) v Halifax Town

* Wealdstone currently playing and losing 1-0 at Southend.

Basically Maidenhead MUST beat Boston and hope Dagenham lose and Wealdstone don’t win.

Brackley have finally done it! :D
National League here we come....

Never saw it coming tbh
A very comfortable win against bottom placed Farsley was predictable. Southport (with nothing to play for) beating leaders Kidderminster 2 1 was far from anyone's thinking

Great day for the club
Great atmosphere
But the last time we can drink on the terraces

Farsley Celtic have had a rough season! Relegated from NLN after spending the season sharing at Buxton. Started ripping up their pitch last summer to replace with a 4G pitch but owners started running out of money and the club is now in a right state. Have been running appeals for funds to see the season out and not won a game since Boxing Day. Chairman has stepped down but owners don’t want to sell…

East Cowes Victoria 3-2 Ash United
Frimley Green
3-1 Fleetlands – these two go again at each other, on Fri evening, in the other PO
Romsey Town 1-3 Whitchurch United

-some unfortunate ‘domestics’ restricted my departure time and range on Sat PM - (also partly the 'knock-on' effect of this being a day or so late :( )
– so opted for 2nd vs 3rd in the HPFL Div One at Overton United (vs Crofton Saints – based near Lee-on-Solent)
– finished 1-1 neither could force a win to threaten Broughton’s (small village between Romsey, Salisbury and Andover) hold on the title.
‘Saints’ get runners-up spot and I think, promotion to the ‘Senior’ Division, if they can avoid defeat this Saturday 3rd at home to 2nd bottom Whiteley
– game been moved to Fareham’s Cams Alders Ground
Crowd of over 200 which is pretty decent for what is effectively STEP08
- some very happy jumping about from a small gang in the corner at FT, were identified to me as Broughton players!

...sadly Ascot fell at the penultimate hurdle last night in a 1-2 defeat at Hanworth Villa who now go to Uxbridge for the Final.

Uxbridge conceded an equaliser on 100' for the game to go to ET but progressed vs Kingstonian on pens.

A lot of last nights POs and eliminators had some fairly 'crazy' conclusions .....
- in SLP-S AFC Totton rescued themselves at home to Dorchester having been two behind very late on.
They levelled and even led ALL within added on injury time only for Dorchester to claw back to 3-3 on 115'. Totton then won in ET on 118'.

Gloucester took W&H to ET - won on pens after the additional 1/2 hr
