TV companies really need to look into giving us an interactive feature where we can mute the co-commentator's feed.
In other news Rio Ferdinand is co-commentating on the Barca v Inter match.

Don’t think there is a single female football pundit I can stand. They are all awful and that’s not me being misogynistic I genuinely think they are awful because they are awful not because they are women. And I can prove I’m not misogynistic by heaping praise on the women who do the F1 punditry, who I think are all excellent and Knowledgeable and enhance the viewing experience . F1 have got it absolutely bang on with their punditry team. Football is the complete opposite. Just bringing in people to fill quotas.

+1, they are fooking dreadful

The quality of women's football is absolutely awful as well, maybe they correlate

There are several sports (MMA, athletics, tennis, etc) where women's events are equally entertaining. Football isn't one!

The regular lady on Football Weekly podcast is decent. Lucy Ward i think. Married to Neil Redfearn.

6ft Kerplunk
Winston Biscuit Who the f**k thought giving Daniel Sturridge some presenting (or at least 'lead pundit') position was a good idea?!

I think we all agree whatever training course that TV execs go on isn't fit for purpose.

I think that just about covers it.

I've said for a while now that punditry's biggest priority is to come across like they're all mates in the pub, so nowadays you just get jokes and banter rather than any decent or insightful analysis, It's crap

Oh for the days of David Pleat and Graham Taylor. Genuinely quality radio match pundits.

Yea I think I agree. There's some fantastic women presenters (like Kelly Cates), but actual commentators are poor. Their voices don't sit right and it's grating to listen to.

There's some absolutely brilliant female commentators in Scotland. Rachael Corsie and Eilidh Barbour being 2 in particular. To be fair their male counterparts north of the border piss on most of the English ones as well, Neil McCann and James McFadden being 2 that immediately spring to mind. Peter Grant is good as well when he's not looking through a green and white hooped filter.

How many Reading mentions does he manage to get into his comments?

I had the horrible experience of once again having to listen to Rio Ferdinand and Robbie Savage on commentary. Rio in particular is extremely hard to like or listen to. Everything is about him and he talks in endless meaningless cliches.

Like a Man United player will lose the ball and he'll say:
"That's exactly what you don't want to do.... you got to be sharp at this level.... got to concentrate.... got to be on top form...."

Its weird, but Rio Ferdinand genuinely comes across as someone who doesn't know much about football.

Points out obvious things we can already see etc. Can't offer any insight.

Also he does that thing of coming out with takes on things that we all just saw and know. With the performance of Lamine Yamal the other day he will very soon be talking about how he thinks Yamal is one of the best players in the world, as if he has spotted something in this lad.

It is difficult to come up with insightful remarks all the time, but of course you are all correct.

For me the best is Dion Dublin because he is likeable and interesting. Technically, the best were Vialli and Klinsmann on BBC during a World Cup twenty years ago.

Best in any sport are/ were Michael Johnson in athletics and Richie Benaud.

To be fair, he's better at punditry than he is at remembering when to piss in a pot.
