AthleticoSpizz ….all a bit boo-hoo for the mighty reds, ………..sponsorship monies, full stadium of fans paying big bucks, global souvenir sales etc etc yet cannot raise a team?

Some geezer claiming to be MUs owner (Jimbo someone?) on Five Live tonight saying, without his intervention MU would be broke by November of this year. Same bloke saying MU will be the most profitable team in the ‘universe’ within three years.

Reduced to this^No sympathy (must admit, cannot remember the last time I saw a kid or even his dad wearing the MU shirt in or around Reading lately). No sympathies for any of the ‘top tier’ teams ‘hardships’ tbf

The Glazers bought the club on debt, i.e. zero of their OWN money put in. This has cost UNITED over £1 BILLION in interest payments and barely touched the principle. The Glazers used to take £10 million a year in dividend payments as well. So you have wealthy owners exploiting fans to make more money whilst running the club into the ground, e.g OT leaking stadium, no resources for a women's team etc etc. Hundreds have lost their jobs due to the current cost-cutting. You are not allowed to purchase a club like this anymore (afaik)

Alex Ferguson operated a net gain in player sales/purchases for the period when the Glazers took over in 2005 to when he retired in 2013

They appointed the people to run the club, Woodward, etc, who have torched money with some terrible player purchases. I'm not sure I buy the idea that they alone were responsible for increasing revenue. Other clubs have also made increased revenue, a rising tide, etc

Would just like to see a sale and the debt cleared. Any revenue Utd makes going back into the club rather than interest and the Glazers' back pocket.

Sorry I thought you loved US Capitalism? Leveraged buy outs were all the rage! As is cost cutting, lack of infrastructure investment and getting rid of the little guys whilst over paying for "talent" !!

The primary role of a football club is (shirley) not to maximize shareholder value.

...and If you can show me the socialist (or fascist) state that hasn't been a total fcuking disaster...etc

Every club having a player or manager that goes over to the fans at the end of the game and does 3 fist pumps which the crowd all cheer

players switching their regular shirts for ones with 'Champions' (or summat) written on when they win or are doing a trophy presentation. They looks so sh*t it kind of spoils the picture IMO

Especially when players put them on back to front.

Is this “playing through the lines” that everyone’s suddenly doing a drug reference?

Yea agree totally with this. Every game I watch on TV or footage I see online ends with this now, all a bit lame and unoriginal

I wonder if they debate behind the scenes at some clubs over who is going to be the official 3 fist pump guy.

I saw there was a new post here and just knew it would be about tifos. Villa did one too and maybe Newcastle - none of them look good. They're way too small and tame looking, often just looking very sad and like you say "trying too hard".

Leeds, Newcastle and Villa should just keep on with the displays that the fans create (by holding up cards or flags). They have the fanbase and atmosphere's to carry them off. The leeds one was particularly impressive with the yellow scarves. Link: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1311053826645657

the amount of replays shown on telly of a goal or an incident. I don't need 5 or 6 replays from different angles of someone scoring. Feels like that is the kind of thing the post match analysis should be for. I want to see the crowd going nuts and the players celebrating. I would rather see the goal scored, be able to watch all the celebrating afterwards and the game re-start. 2 or 3 minutes later when the ball is out of play or there is a delay, show us 1 replay from the best angle. Then the dedicated nonsense-waffle hour afterwards can show it from all sorts of angles.

(I especially don't need multiple replays of someone scoring a penalty)

Yea and it's even more annoying when 7 minutes later, they replay again. And then towards the end of hte first half. You end up seeing the same foul, goal or big thing about 20 times or more.

It’s what Sky say you need to see.

The other thing that’s annoying (particularly prevalent on TNT, but Sky can be just as irritating) is sodding cutaways to the crowd or some supposed famous name or ex-player (usually accompanied by some banal comment about how much he’d like to be playing today) watching the game that you’re no longer watching ‘cos the tv company has decided to cutaway.

It was funny as they did that during Sheffield United vs Bristol City. They cut to Harry Maguire and another ex-player. Both of them were deeply engrossed in their phones during the game. I think the commentator sarcastically said "they look really interested".

saw a lot of that last night. camera would go to a close up of a random fan while the game was going on and would stay on them for way longer than anyone wanted. (I always get slightly anxious that a close up will result in that person sticking their finger up their hooter or mouthing something really inappropriate and everyone they know sees it  )

Bournemouth being much, much better than us. See also Brighton.

Cannot explain it, but I don’t feel that in respect of Brentford.
