Yea I've seen quite a bit of it and nearly bought tickets actually - just for an evening out. The tickets are only £15 so seems good value.

I get slightly annoyed when people call it rubbish, pointless, etc. It's another option, it's entertainment, it's better than watching a 1994 replay of the play off final between Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday, or whatever Sky put on there. It's also free to watch on YouTube.

Some of the personalities are annoying, but there's some really big names involved. Ian Wright, Gary Linekar, John Terry (Manager of one of the teams), Robert Pires, Jehns Lehmann, Freddie Ljungberg.

The players are good quality too, and I believe they all had to go through trials to get picked.

Excuse my total ignorance here but what is the Baller League?

Yes, I know I could Google it but then the conversation would completely stop - so yeah, what is it?

A 6 a side league setup in Germany last year with backing from podolski, bastien schweinsteiger, ballack and others

They show it on sky and it is basically 12 teams each and managed by a famous person (music artist, streamer, tv, Ian wright, gary Lineker, chloe kelly etc)

Teams made up of ex pro (ciaran clarke, marvin sordell etc etc) and semi pro footballers and 6 a side players

Better then I thought tbh

I didn't realise it was 6 a side. All the clips I've seen from it are one on one with players hoofing it from one half of the pitch to the other trying to score - what's going on there?

Here's some highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnsjR9nUwC4

It's basically inside an arena (The Copperbox in London). about 10-ish teams play each other every Monday evening in a 10 week league thing. It's televised on Sky Sports but also live on YouTube.

It was created by KSI and maybe some of his crew too. Each team has a manager (some of them fairly famous like John Terry). The players are made up of very good footballers - as already pointed out, like lower league quality and probably the types that narrowly avoided full professional contracts.

I think the game lasts for 30 minutes.

There are some parts of the game which I'm still getting used to. Like at times they'll be a bit where the teams are reduced in numbers. There's also a penalty competition during the evening, where one player from each side takes a penalty (run from half way line and try to score), and if you miss you're out. I'm guessing you get bonus points or something.

There's a lot of drive from social media types, but like I said, some really well known "normal media people" are backing it too.

The player named Bryan Ly is phenomenal (https://ballerleague.uk/en/player/bryan-ly). Just looked him up and he played for Morecombe and is now with Bury FC.

its the 1 thing i dislike
they have random weird gamechanger rules where they do strange things like 2 v 3 or halfway line shots but no saving with hands
